Forge Expansions as DLCs
We know why Forge was build for, for us as creators. It was experimented in Halo 3, upgraded on Halo Reach and now it’s need to be ‘perfected’. Take a look on Starcraft 2, the whole power from that game is the powerful tool you get to invent new ways to make a game within a game. With Forge we can do almost the same on Halo 4, a few tweaks from Halo reach and the theory can be great (keep in mind it’s based on Halo Reach only).
What bugged me the most in Halo Reach Forge was the fact that it was hard to connect the buildings with each others. Sometimes it took an hour or 10 min, I mean as a creator you want your map to be as good as possible and with a millimeter of it may count as a failure. Why not add magnets as items you can place on buildings/things/items, plus and negative, that could solve it really. The two magnets that are bind into each other should not counteract with the others.
In Forge you can also add gametypes as a custom, what wasn’t added how to score points. This matter is the core to a better Forge. Example:
- Territories, instead of having time added you kill to get combo, the more combo you get the more time or score (depends on how you set the score on the gametype) you get when you are in the territory.
Maps that are good should be promoted into the matchmaking, even customs maps.
And if you want to test out your map there should be a matchmaking for testing it out, an auto-join-in-session server list of some kind. It will make things mush faster to take reads/notes to your own creation.
