Forge Data Retrieval

So I have completed a map that I had to recreate 6 times due to forge bugs. The 6th time I have completed this map it finally worked in forge and custom games and then back in forge. My issue now is when I try to re-edit some things I wanted to fix today and all I get is “Retrieving Data” when I’m trying to load this map, and it does the same thing in Custom Games as well. What can I do to fix this, other than recreate the map for the 7th time.

This happened to my friend Gavin117k the other day with his forge map. It wouldn’t let him load the map and now it’s broken and he had to delete it again. He doesn’t even want to try and forge until this problem is fixed.

I found a way to fix it!!!

Just start up a different game and then go back to halo.

Sugar I’ve done this and it still doesn’t work.

Why would that work? Don’t say you’ve found a solution if you haven’t.

Thanks for your report! To assist with our investigation, can you please provide the following?

  • File Name of the map - Which error you encountered; i.e. ‘Save As New’ or ‘Retrieving Data’ - Approximate date & time that you received this error

Thanks for your report! To assist with our investigation, can you please provide the following information?

  • Which error you encountered; i.e. ‘Save As New’ or ‘Retrieving Data’
  • Xbox DVR videos or screenshots are also extremely helpful - File Name of the map - Approximate date & time that you received this error - Anything special about these maps (size, specific objects etc.) - What were you doing right before you received this error? - Did performing a hard reset resolve the issue?

I am not sure if this will work for everyone but it worked for me. Do a hard reset of your Xbox were you hold the power button until it shuts off entirely. Once you do that start up halo five then quit out of it. Then started up again go to your maps and select a default map first. Do not immediately go to your map. start up again go to your maps and select a default map first. Do not immediately go to your map. I don’t know why but when I selected at least three default maps then finally selected my own it worked fine for me.

I’m pretty sure I’ve tried similar methods with negative/vague results. That anyone is even forced to try a workaround is sad in itself.

The workaround I have the greatest success with is renaming under the press Y for file options. Even that doesn’t always work. Multiple saved copies are what have given me the most secure result.

One important file locked into the retrieving data cycle just from trying to open it in a custom game. The same file had successfully open in a custom several times previously.

I really think this file problem is much bigger than Forge alone.
