Whether it’s just your hands, a teddy bear, or oven mitts, I think it would be useful to have an option/item/default start that gives your Spartan no weapons. This could add a new dynamic to custom games in a number of ways:
- Game types that involve finding a weapon, such as running away from enemies (zombies??) and subsequently blasting them with shotguns if you manage to survive and get to a cache
- “Class based” game types; each team starts with no weapons, and there are limited but varied loadouts available for pickup at the start of each game or round. Think of a room with one sniper, one BR, an SMG, a shotgun, etc.
- Similarly, if you still had a melee ability (but no lunge like the sword), it could be useful for various sports-type games. My friends and I used to play a game IRL called hillball that was basically rugby on a hill with multiple teams. We wanted to recreate it in Halo 5 but need either a gravity hammer or a no-weapon option.
- Pretty much any game type you can think of that doesn’t involve shooting; Parkour races, pure driving game types (I know there are workarounds for that, but “no weapons” just seems simpler), cat and mouse, hide and seek, the list goes on…
This doesn’t seem like it would be very hard to implement, and we already have “toys” in forge so I can’t see this as breaking any kind of immersion. Any other uses you guys can think of?
