Forge Controls could use a different Scheme

This is the first thing I noticed and Im sure with time I can get used to it, but object control is a bit of a puzzle. Having to hold a combination of the triggers to move and roll an objects is strange. Using A and B to pan up and down is strange. Having to hold the d-pad to delete objects is also strange. While the selection tool and Delete offers a quick way to clear a map, I have yet to find a Delete All option for new maps since they are loaded with spawns at the start. A More Classic approach would have been more comfortable honestly but I could also see this new scheme as a more precise method.
Im sure more questions will come up as I climb this new learning curb in Forge. Good luck to everyone else.

I think this scheme will be better off in the long run, you just have to stick with it.

you’re not lying

Get out.
Controls are nonsensical and you can’t even modify them.

Because apparently someone can’t have an opinion by your logic. Maybe if anyone on here spent more than 10 minutes with the controls I would take them seriously, which includes you.

The controls are terrible. Period.

They aren’t bad, just difficult to understand. Im not going to just roll over and cry about it. I will learn them like everyone should, but It is understandable to express frustration over the new scheme change. But I do agree it is for the better.

Yup, i’m having a hard time moving stuff

Why do you guys think it’s good to have a system which is more difficult to understand? I mean really, what happened to the day where anybody, or any kid, could hop on forge and mess around and have a good time without a “learning curve”?

I totally agree with OP, a more classic approach would greatly benefit the game.

Then button map your controllers in the xbox settings?
Build your own forge button layout, turn it off when you aren’t using forge.

As I also said in my thread, it wouldn’t help make the actual mide easier. It’s still vastly different.

I agree about the new controls being puzzling and I think they should add a palette delete too. Regarding the new button layout, I understand the thinking behind the new controls, but I think there should be a “classic” preset too just like in normal controller settings. Since it wouldn’t require creating new buttons or removing buttons, I can’t see why 343 wouldn’t add a classic forge control setting in the future.

I haven’t been using the Halo 5 Forge for very long today so I’m not sure if they added this, but it would be really cool if you could select the version of the weapon you wanted like the River of Light for the Incinerator and Prophet’s Bane for the Energy Sword.

This is why I’m not touching forge now.

I love this. They make forge vastly more powerful for map-makers and now people are upset that it has a learning curve, as any reasonably powerful piece of software would.

I’m slowly getting used to it. My only issues so far are

  1. When you grab an object and want to move it, Normal speed is the same as precision speed. Which is pretty slow. The only way to make it faster is to use boost but that’s a BIG increase in speed. A little too big. Basically it’s either too fast or too slow.

  2. A = Down and B = Up. That makes no sense. Naturally I’d want to use A to go up and B to go down.

So they can confuse people further. 343i should their job and sort this mess out with forge so it’s just a mess.

I do agree that there needs to be a beginners control scheme, which takes out most of the complicated stuff, and a classic scheme which is reminiscent of halo 3-2A but doesn’t have the complicated options.

I hate the controls!!
What was wrong with the old ones?? People made stuff pretty fast with the old controls I was looking forward to forge and after 1 hour playing with it I finaly made a bridge… any other halo game it would of took me 15 min… I’m disappointed. Thanks 343.
