I just finished my first match on Big Team Battle on Guillotine and i am shocked how bad the new forge assets look.
Its all just boxes painted with one color and no surface structure.
I really would like to be more constructive, but i fear that thats what we will see in Halo 5 and there might not be any changes to it. I hope i am wrong. Is there any info that the assets will change when they release Forge to the public?
Just compare the new Forge assets to those of Halo 4 or Reach. These have way more detail. The new ones just look like a comic-cell-shading-FPS.
I’m fairly certain texture less objects were what some forgers asked for

I understand if you want neutral looking objects. But textureless, and only textureless? That’s imo an horrible idea.
Gameplay comes first, especially in multiplayer. But looking at such bleak objects for hours is really sad. And though it is multiplayer i would like to see some “cinematic action”, at least it wouldnt hurt.
Remember that all pieces have tons of color and design options. Maybe these look blocky but
1: There could still be colors and designs to add more depth. Maybe 343 just didn’t use them
2: Makes it possible to have more things with less bugs. Nobody wants to play 10 fps Halo because a block phasing into another block is causing odd problems
I will say the maps are nice. But halo 5 needs REAL BTB maps soon, not just forged
I agree at first glance. I’d like to see if maybe there’s more the community can do with it. But I am very tired of generic looking maps. It’s sad that the dev team actually made regret and truth look different - yet it’s the same map - yet you can’t give me just a totally different unique map. Truth could have been made easily in forge. Just gray instead of purple.
This has been complained about since H3. Get over it. I think it looks good.
A lot of the new objects ta actually look great…
Was hoping that theyd let the maps be made in forge but touched up to look like a real map before they tossed it at us but whatever.
The community asked for these forge pieces, it allows for better builds and a bigger variety in the colour pallet.

To why people wanted this is beyond me and honestly I bet it was because of the textures “glitching” in and out of one another, which COULD BE FIXED! but I guess no one ever understood how to exactly. So IMO I believe the textureless forge will be boring and uninteresting to me. Hell even the maps after watching someone get out of Uncurve and Orion shows just how bad these Forging maps are going to be because comparing it to Forge World, which in fact gave us SO MICH MORE variety to where we can forge. These canvases are just going to be bland and not interesting but from playing BTB it seems we might be able to alter or add in hills of some sort to add to the maps to give them the variations I guess we would need. Sadly they should bring back previous Bungie employees to help them.

Exactly Forge has never looked good, almost every map in Reach was grey and almost every map in 4 was a dark white, now we have actual colours we can choose from.
I’m pretty sure we can decorate the floors and walls as well using other pieces to make them look less boring.

The biggest problem to me is not that all pieces look similar. For example Reach: all those opbjects looked like forerunner metal buildings. But those objects hat some textures and some details. On the map Guillotine the objects have no detail at all.

I would assume the new xbox can handle more detailed forge objects than what we have seen until today and still run better than 10 fps.
In my opinion these new objects look really bad and cheap. I hope there will be options to make a map play well and look good as well.
Plain coloured blocks fit together visually better as a few single blocks can appear as one when merged. But they should have provided a few skins for each block, some simple, some detailed. They boasted about how many colours were available… Why not a few skins?
I think they look great. Looks much better than the ones from 3-Halo2a
