Forge and slayer pro

Am I the only one who feels that these two different settings in Halo 4 matchmaking need to be moved into their own playlist?

Forge maps, great and all, but their spawing system just isn’t good enough. Don’t get me wrong, nothing is perfect, and I probably wouldnt be able to do anything better, but I personally feel that they just don’t live up to their expectations as a Halo 4 map. I would love to see a forge maps playlist and would jump in and out every-now-and-again to test forge maps, as they are quite cool. Just not in normal playlists, please.

Slayer pro, I feel, should have its own playlist. I don’t want to have 2 of three choices to be the same map, and to be perfectly honest slayer pro is its own gametype anyway, Its completely different from Slayer.

Completely agree, so much to the point I made a video about it last night!

Your thoughts mimic mine exactly!

Completely disagree.

A majority of the Forge maps are a hell of a lot better than the developer maps we are forced to play in Matchmaking.

I don’t want to have to go and play a low populated playlist which makes CSR even less effective to play Forge maps.

Same goes for Slayer Pro - it wouldn’t have a high population as a singular playlist, hence why they added it to Infinity Slayer - all they need to do is rename Infinity Slayer to Team Slayer and we’re fine.

I agree, I much prefer Forge maps. Unless it’s Settler.

Actually Settler is technically an on-disk map, just like “Asylum” and “The Cage” from Reach. The same goes for Relay and the Erosion one (I think its called Ascent).

OT: I 100% agree with Moa on this one. I don’t understand why people keep asking for Slayer Pro to have its own playlist. Slayer Pro and Elite Slayer were in Team Slayer in Reach and I never heard that complaint once. For as long as I can remember Halo has had variety in its playlists.

Yeah I agree, Pro and Forge maps need their own playlist.

Other than Haven and Majestic DLC, Forge maps are the only other way to get our traditional arena Halo fix. The community makes better maps than Certain Affinity, so Forge maps are really all I want to play in H4. CA is also the reason why our Forge maps look so ugly, because they made H4 Forge and dropped the ball on it.

The game doesn’t need 3 almost identical Slayer Playlists. Populations are low enough as it is, and lets not forget that the thinner the population is, the more pointless CSR gets.

Wow, cant beleive the different views there are on this subject!

Alot of you are saying you enjoy slayer pro and Forge maps, but don’t want to play in underpopulated playlists as CSR is rendered invaild. I have 2 responses to this:

  1. If so many of you like forge maps and slayer pro, I have a feeling the playlists wouldnt be underpopulated.

If youre still with the argument of CSR,

  1. Social-style playlist that doesnt include forge maps or slayer pro, that doesnt have any impact on csr.

Two reasons we are seeing forge maps and keeping them in MM is a necessity.

  1. Majority of the default and DLC maps were designed for BTB and too large for 4v4 gameplay

  2. Of the maps that are built for 4v4 gameplay the majority are terrible.

Haven is the only really good map for 4v4 that shipped with the game.

Abandoned is better suited for 2v2’s because of the lack of spawn locations due to the maps design.

Adrift, Solace and Skyline are decent maps but are really flag/OBJ maps rather than slayer because of dynamic spawns. Also with adrift having so many bottlenecks and choke points slayer is broken on the map, especially when motion tracker is enabled.

The rest of the maps are plane garbage or just too big.

With the forge maps we are able to play arena styled gamplay and get back to halo’s roots. Yes there is the frame rate issue but that is the fault of poor design by 343 and is only a major issue when split screening.

Not only a major issue when split screening. No motion tracker is annoying.

Many of those “arena” maps are frag grenade spam feat havens. Skyline, adrift are good. Solace… That beam in the middle shouldn’t be like that. Asylum wasn’t very enjoyable.
