Forge and Co-Op DELAYED AGAIN

And as I’ve said multiple times now, those are all about longevity. Forge is a relatively small draw for release. It has absolutely kept the franchise breathing, but a longevity feature being delayed 6-9 months isn’t going to kill a game that’d intended to run for several years.

That maybe you who dosent get bored of a game right away, but people will get bored of this game. The only thing that will save it possibly is the campaign. But 9 months for creative new games to come out. I will probably be bored by then I may come back cause I’m a die hard fan. I’m saying generally not everyone will come back.

I think the assumption is incredibly overdramatic. Look at how long MCC had issues after its launch. People who were interested came back as things got fixed and content got added. These persistent online games go through changes over time, people who are interested in the IP keep an eye on those changes.

People who are going to write off a game completely, to the point of not even giving it a second look once it’s updated, are an extreme minority. Even then most people wouldn’t do that unless there was an egregious issue with a game that they felt was beyond fixing, not simply a delayed mode.

I don’t deny forges importance to the longevity of the game and to its groups of fans, but acting like it’s not being available at launch is just this side of ridiculous. Now if they do something like drop the mode entirely or charge for its later release then I’d see people freaking out about it in larger numbers.

Technically nothing changed. All they ever committed to was season 2 and 3.they never gave concrete time frames and let people assume each season would be 3 months based on MCCs season length.

This is nonsense. Most people DID NOT return to MCC when 343 went back to fix it. It got a slight bump with the PC releases and that faded as well as it was already 5-6 years old at that point.

MCC sold very well in 2014. 343 took far to long to fix it and most of those people NEVER returned. It’s frankly still not “fixed” either just improved.

Your assumption that people will be willing to wait 9 months and return in droves is not really a safe bet at all.

There is no justification for releasing games piecemeal and incomplete ever. Especially when prior games in the same series launched content complete.

They gave specific details on how long each season would last. They’ve said numerous times each season would be 3 months long. That is the exact definition of a concrete timeframe.

With the delay of season 2 being pushed back 3 months, this also means forge and co-op campaign have been pushed back another 3 months

Maybe I should clarify. They never committed to shipping those features after 3 and 6 months but rather at the start of season 2 and season 3. Any time frame estimates were always w.r.t. season start date, not feature release date. So then any delay of a season would automatically be a delay of the content in that season unless stated otherwise.

I’ve never seen them say coop or forge would be launched before the start of their respective seasons.

They said they would launch those features at the start of season 2 and 3 respectively. And since each season was to launch 3 months apart,
This would’ve launched 3 and 6 months, respectively. Since they delayed season 2 for 3 months, this also means co op and forge have been delayed 3 months each.

I hope you can understand this

Keep in mind they talk in terms of “goal[s]” and “target[s],” nothing more.

They’ve not committed to anything.

That’s what I’m saying. Nobody should have assumed forge and coop wouldn’t also have been delayed (in absolute time)

And again with the dramatic reactions.

That’s not what I said. What I’m saying is holdouts over the entire game due to missing forge at launch are a minority. Those who will write off the game entirely due to this, an extreme minority. Forge is coming, and unless they delay it again or drop the feature entirely people acting like this will break Halo as brand in the interim are being dramatic.

Again, not something I’ve ever said or implied. I’m not happy in the least that core features have been delayed. My entire argument here has not been in defense of this happening, it’s been about addressing the severe hyperbole regarding forges absence at launch.

Seriously, no one should be shocked or surprised by this. Sure, be upset, but don’t act like 343 beat you up and stole your lunch money.

I still remember how well that worked out last time. Everyone came running back to Halo 5 in droves when the customs browser launched!

I agree with you I don’t know what the hell they were doing for the last 7 years. But what I’ve seen of the campaign it seems like they put all their energy and focus in to making a really good campaign. And of course the multiplayer gameplay core is fine but that’s still riddled with the problems.

Halo 5 had a custom game browser?
