Forge and Co-Op DELAYED AGAIN

Seriously, what on Earth? Did you guys not learn from Halo 5 when it comes to releasing barebones games? The game is fun, but with this little content it’s going to get boring in less than 3 months. Forge is at least 9+ months away, and co-op is at least 6. This game is not going to be able to support itself without Forge mode.

Wait, where did they say its 6 months away? I thought it will come a bout a month after December 8th? Did that change?

Nope, it hasn’t changed. This guy is just pot stirring.

No I’m not, go read the Eurogamer post. Staten himself said each mode is still planned for season 2 and 3, which means each mode just got delayed another 3+ months at least due to the season 1 extension.

Yeah I’m waiting to buy . Coop is pretty important to my friends and I.

Not gonna lie, forge is pretty niche and one of those things that can easily be back burnered in order to make sure core game modes are done and done properly. That said, the coop delay royally pissed me off. Coop is a longer running feature of Halo than online multi-player, to have the game launch without it was a head scratcher, to have it slatted for roughly 3 months after launch was upsetting, to have the window extended (end of the first season) is mind boggling.

If not for being able to snag the special edition console I honestly had no plans to purchase the game until it was complete.

I find it really annoying too (coop) because me and my brother always played through the Halo games together, but now they are taking that away for 6 months. Halo has always been about being able to do stuff with your friends, but apparently not now. And yeah I agree Forge is a bit niche, but it has shown to be popular in Fortnite, so I think they are missing an important piece. Also the fact they’ve had like what, 6 years of development time or something? Where on Earth did that time go? This is going to be one of the most barebone Halo launches yet.

its mind boggling after over a year delay that the game is going to drop as empty as it is, with more delays. what were they going to release over a year ago?

Yeah, while it’s not 343i’s problem my friends and I have had Legendary launch coop runs since Halo 2, its been a tradition for some time. No way any of us are going to expect the others not to touch the campaign for 3-6 months, and coop loses its magic somewhat if everyone has already played the game to death.

My biggest concern was that the delay was indicative of their focus being the persistent multiplayer suite, and them running into issues with coop due to the campaign being this “choose” your own adventure approach that has never been done in the series before. ODST allowed you to tackle missions out of order, but those missions and the “Rookies” persistent experience were separate. I’m just hoping coop is something they actually CAN get working right at this point.

We where told that months ago though.

I assume a fair amount of that was that they were simply mandated to launch alongside the new hardware.

Things are going downhill kinda quick for this. There is already lack of maps. Good luck surviving until then. 343 just doesn’t seem good at making games. I really hope there are a solid group if maps that are coming out before March.

We weren’t aware that still applied after extending a season 3 months. Don’t act like this should’ve been expected.

i can see that especially since halo originally dropped with the original xbox. heavy handed bureaucratic decision making like that seems prevalent everywhere else in the game. wouldnt be surprised if people with no understanding of when the game would be ready are the ones making the decision on when it would be released.

at the end of the day my issue is that if no one was willing to stand up over an issue as important as that then, i cant understand why anyone believes anyone working on the game has the ability or will to stand up for other important issues regarding the game.

Do your research before making claims. original plan was 3 months and the delay has changed that to 6

The misinformation in this thread is insane.

Who exactly is misinformed?? Staten made the statement, and I made a post. This info came from the guy leading the game right now

Except Forge is the reason games like MCC and Halo 5 had a post-launch lifespan to begin with. It’s the third most important mode to the game only behind Campaign and Multiplayer.

Technically co-op and forge are still coming season 2 and season 3. Was this a sneaky way to get more time and claim nothing has changed? Probably, at least in part.
It sucks but would you prefer it launch broken?

What a terrible news to get :frowning:
But to be fair, what they so in Infinite has never been done before, so it might have a play in it.
Have not heard the recent news, so idk

Its very bad that forge is also delayed

But to be fair, its better to have a polished co-op and forge then unpolished one.
