Anyone else think it would be a cool idea for us to be able to place AI in our forge maps?
Think about it you can place ally and enemy AI’s so you can make war/survival maps.
This could also be like the way people nodded the Pc versions of halo to have cool war scenes I always wanted to do that on xbox. This will be a boss idea. What do you guys think?
It wouldn’t be hard, you were able to mod some maps in halo 3 to have player models within a game so it can probably be done since all you would need is for the player model to execute an action or copy one. They could implement a feature that allowed the player to enter a copy cat type of phase where it would record your actions for a few minutes.
Actually I remember in nintendo games way back then with super smash bros they had the ability to have the player model become aggressive and or defend its self so it could take on an aspect like that as well.
It would be awesome. I’m a huge fan of AI battles, but it simply cannot be done at the moment, especially with the amount of features already present in the game.
Forge runs on a slightly different engine to campaign/firefight/SpOps, so it wouldn’t be as easy as just copy-pasting them in to forge.
The AI also needs predictable routes for them to move around in (called pathfinding I believe), and placing forge objects would screw with this. For example, enemies might constantly run into player-added crates on the ground as they don’t perceive them to be part of the map. Also, if you were to spawn them on a platform hovering in mid-air, they might also percieve themselves as being in mid-air and would probably glitch out all over the place.
The only thing like that which could be successfully implemented would be perhaps an auto-turret of some sort. Other then that, it’s impossible. AIs that move would be unable to navigate Forge maps, unless they were perhaps Sentinels or Banshees.
Although it would open the door to so many possibilities and be a great new feature, I don’t think it’s possible on the console, and even if it were, it would take up a LOT of time to programme.
It’s a cool idea that pretty much everyone secretly wants but unfortunately it would be very tough to have it on the current xbox. If it did, it would have horrendous lag and other issues.
