Forge 3.0?

What do you think Halo 4’s forge will be like?

I think they should add a blank map and before you start the game you have options:

Size: Small, Medium, Large
Season: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter
Weather: Rain, Snow(only if you pick Winter)
Time of Day: Dawn, Morning, Afternoon, Evening, and Night

It’ll fit in perfectly with the whole Infinity thing on the menu.

Forgot to say that they could also put down what type of textures it should have.
EX: Forerunner, Human, Covenant

And Maybe like having a swamp, desert, dirt, something like that.

Thats abit to heavy, but maybe the xbox 720 can do that for halo 5
but Im positive that the Forge mode will be bigger than reache’s

They should at least make more HUMAN and COVENANT structures, not just Forerunner. And then you should also have EVERY object on Maps supporting Forge. Not like in Halo: CEA or the other Reach Maps.

It would be really nice to do it the way you say. It could be hard to implement though. They could make a disc just for the Multiplayer and the other one for the Campaign.

I agree with that op it sounds spectacular =D and maybe you can change the inital enviorment, like a Lava themed enviorment or somthing?

Here I have figured out some Forge options that I think would be nice.

First, I have options for Objects: Structures. They might facilitate some points of forging.

Object Options: Structures

> - Team: Red Team, Blue Team, Green Team, Orange Team, Violet Team, Yellow Team, Brown Team, Pink Team, Black Team, No Team
> - Color of Lights: Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Violet, Yellow, Brown, Pink, Black, White
> - Weathering: Grey - freshly built, Golden - noble, Glowing - superheated, Greenish - covered with plants, Sand - desert weathering, Blue white - ice cold snow cover, Ancient - Ruin
> - Guard: Guarded by light sentinels, Guarded by Aggressors, Guarded by Heavy Sentinels, Not Guarded
> - Physics: Normal, Fixed, Phased
> - Size: Tiny, Normal, Big, Huge, Colossal (Megastructure)
> - Advanced
> - Coordinates
> - Shape: Box, Cylinder, None
> Width: 0 - 100.09
> Length: 0 - 100.09
> Top: 0 - 100.09
> Bottom: 0 - 100.09

And here are a few very ambitious Map Options I have thought of.

Map Options:

> - Daytime: Dawn, Morning, Noon, Afternoon, Evening, Twilight, Night
> - Location: Inside, Outside
> - Environment: Installation under Construction, Urban - Forerunner, Urban - Covenant, Urban - Human, Flood Infestation, Desert, Forest, Jungle, Oceanic, Underwater, Snow Waste, Cave, Mountain, Sky, Orbit, Space
> - Background: Ocean, Snow Waste, Desert, Snow Mountains, Rocky Mountains, Woody Mountins, Jungle Mountains, Forerunner City, Human City, Covenant City, Glacier, Halo, Ark, Shield World, Planet, Satellite, Nebula, Asteroid Field
> - Battle Animations: On, Off
> Party 1: Covenant Fleet, Human Fleet, Forerunner Fleet, Flood Fleet
> Party 2: Covenant Fleet, Human Fleet, Forerunner Fleet, Flood Fleet
> Party 3: Covenant Fleet, Human Fleet, Forerunner Fleet, Flood Fleet
> - Weather: Clear Sky, Sunny, Cloudy, Rainy, Snowy, Windy, Stormy, Electrical Storm (Lightnings)
> - Filter: Colorblind, Gloomy, Juicy, Orange, Purple, Old Timey, Inverted, Nova

Maybe a lot of the map options would be infeasible since the possibilities are sheer endless but I tried to make some restrictions and basic things. I’d be cool if some of these options could be in-game.

And now for the end, a little thing that would add some depth to customization and would help machinima.

Customization:

> - Monitor: Color
> Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Violet, Yellow, Brown, Pink, White

The features that halo players want:
-Start from scratch, a totally new map.
-Choices between alot of Skybox.
-Choose between alot of preset objects but…
-Create new objects: Selecting textures, create shapes, choose size

Creating maps on console may look hard but I think the Farcry 2 editor is a good step that should be achieved for Halo games.

It needs more color. And Soft Walls and Soft Ceilings to help rope off places on the map that Soft Kill zones wouldn’t be able to do effectively.

And of course, a bigger budget!

It’s definitely too far in the dev. cycle to add something like this. They’d have to make some sort of random terrain generator unless you want it to be the same every time (which is boring).

But… hmm… Grognok would be able to handle it so maybe we’ll see something like this in Destiny.

I think we should get FarCry map editing system?!? I love make maps on that game!

We should be able to place gravity as well. Think of the gametypes you could make.

Just set the map to Zero G and make a way to push off of things (Such as melee) and every time you are in a new area of gravity your feet go to whatever it is.

You could place hills that you can set how strong the gravity is, and which direction its pulling. You should be able to set circular rocks and make them gravitational, allowing you to be pulled into it from all sides.

Cough Cough, enders game battle room anyone?

And there is so much you could do! Imagine the game types and the racetracks. Imagine the slayer maps you could make! This would be fun…

Unfortunately it might not be doable as of yet, maybe halo 5?

I’m kinda hoping for a giant blank area along with something like Forge World. Something you can fill with amazing maps. No ground, just falling so far down that you get the death animation as if you fell into water. Throw in some interesting environmental backgrounds like being stuck in the eye of a storm, mist, or space so you can really mix up the mood.

Lastly I hope 343 adds some mystery to Halo 4’s Forge World. Something hidden that unlocks into places on the map you can’t just run to. I always thought in Reach’s Forge World there should have been a massive underground complex like what we had in ODST. It’ll make the fans happy to have some weird easter egg to hunt down.

Cedric 116 B45, that is an awesome idea! not really to sure on the sentinel things just because I don’t really get it.

But besides that, its just awesome!

That sound awesome too! I hope 343i listens to our ideas.

SilentA98, I like your ideas.

They should also include object movement. For instance, you put the dish on the ground and set the time of it’s movement to 30 secs. Then you put the direction to Left. So the dish would turn to the Left for 30 secs, makes a pause and continues.

This would be really nice for Machinima Making and also Gameplay. Just look at Zanzibar. I loved that big rotator.

Object Movement:
Duration D1: 0 - 30 secs
Duration D2: 0 - 30 secs
Direction 1: Right, Left, Right and Left, Left and Right
Direction 2: Upwards, Downwards, Up and Down, Down and Up
Type of Movement: Rotation, Levitation, Sideways, Diagonally

THIS^^^

Twice bungie has ripped us off saying “With the biggest easter egg ever in a halo game.” On both sandtrap and Forgeworld. Neither of these two maps actually had a massive easter egg (Okay, sandtrap had the elephants and frigate with corresponding names going back to greek mythology and the davinci eggs, but thats it)

I actually want something cool, a hidden switch that unlocks a secret door to give us a massive, epic looking room with forgable vehicles of every kind. It should have every vehicle (Going only so big as elehpant) to be in any halo game (including wars) and allow us to move them around the map as forgable objects.

But lastly, I want to see a door perfectly akin to that of headlong (halo 2s door) with a swithc placed somwhere on the map, and it opens up revealing the golden warthog.

Dear god I searched days for that damn thing, on headlong and the remake. It would be really nice to see easter eggs such as these finally in the game.

That would be great a well. Pinnacle just wasnt the same without the giant turning wheel.

But yes, that would be amazing for forging. Plus you could do like they did in collosus with conveir belt style movement.

EDIT: Sorry, giant turning atena…

Thank you. I thought that there could be Sentinels placed on the Maps to defend certain Areas or objects. So instead of fighting Spartan vs Spartan or Spartan vs Elite (if that would be possible), you will have a third unbound party that fights both teams, no mater who they are. This would only fit the Forerunner places and objects, of course.

There was an underground complex in Halo 3: ODST??? Can you tell me where?

I edited Post #6. Battle Animations should be included as background too.

What forge really needs is better matchmaking support. We need a playlist dedicated to community made content and a streamlined system for the community to promote content to said playlist. There needs to be a robust feedback system to rank order the plethora of content so that the good content will filter to the top and the bad content to the bottom.

90% of the community made content from Halo 3 & Reach went totally unnoticed and unused. So without better matchmaking support - forge will once again be mostly a waste.

Proper matchmaking support for community content could really help catapult Halo over COD.
