As title reads I believe there should be a forfeit option added. If you are getting smacked so hard an option to end it should be implemented. Good job winning team but let’s move on. Specially when a teammate leaves.
auto end: when playing koth/oddball if the time remaining makes it physically impossible to win I think the game should just end. No reason to finish ball with 4 minutes of slayer.
example would be: 2 1/2 minutes of koth remaining but you need 220 of seconds to win

I definitely think that makes sense if there is no possible way to win. It’s not taking away from the game mode. It’s just stopping a team from being forced to play a match they cannot win.
Agreed its the worst feeling when you join a game mid way through and everything is stacked against you making any progress.
Not to add its 2021 and this have already been in for years lol
If a comeback is mathematically impossible or too many people have left I’m all for it.
Auto end, that’s not a bad idea and I can definitely roll with it. If the match is mathematically impossible to win due to not having enough time such as in KOTH or Oddball (Sudden Death also accounted for), then there isn’t really a point for the match to go on. This usually occurs when a good chunk of the match has already been played anyways.
Forfeit is more iffy because comebacks are always possible. Players should be encouraged to seek ways to turn the match around such as coming up with counterplay rather than turning in the towel every time when things seem to be going south. I could see it as an option but only under strict conditions such as being an option only when: a teammate has left, a certain time is left for the match, and the team scores are heavily weighted in one’s favor.

I totally agree with this.
Considering the auto-end is just adding a way that the game measures win conditions in objective games that would be a great little addition, only applicable to time based objectives then though.
A forfeit feature is a slippery slope because it can also cause that almost no games that played out anymore. We all know that in BTB and war zone there are always quitters quite early when a game seems to be in the enemies favour and maybe only 20% of those actually ends in getting stomped. A forfeit option could result in even more salty behaviour if some players refuse to forfeit.
For ranked games go rather quick and if a players leaves you can already quit without a penalty so I don’t see adding a forfeit option of value.
For objective gamemodes like KOTH & Oddball I actually wouldn’t mind seeing a feature like this.
Saves players a bit of extra time instead of waiting for a match to end even though they’ve already lost by the math.
I don’t think a direct forfeit button is a good idea though. I can see that getting abused by groups of players who don’t want to play a map. If I’m playing solo on my favourite map but my teammates are a stacked team who don’t want to play the map they could just vote to forfeit and end the game. In turn ruining my gameplay experience.
If there was to be a forfeit button I think it would have to have some kind of measure before it becomes a available. Something like a score threshold.

forfeit should not be implemented for slayer etc. there’s always hope. mathematicaly impossible wins should remove the quiting penalty, but not auto end the game. i enjoy annoying the enmy team as much as possible even if i have mathematicaly lost already, no silent death.

I have no idea why this doesn’t exist already in Halo. If I am with my friends we roll over people sometimes and they get less than 15 kills a match. It’s fun spanking, but I do feel for them. When you roll single in multiplayer you can go against full teams that just work stupidly well with call outs.
Ok auto-end I heavily agree with, though I would like an option for the losing team to vote to cancel it in the event that they want to PvP still.
I’d be for auto-end. Some matches you just want to end because it’s impossible. You’re already beaten. Kinda like in Destiny 2’s Crucible. When a team is getting crushed badly, Shaxx says that he’s “seen enough” and calls it early. Saves everyone time.

If it was implemented, it would have to be very carefully. In game modes like Slayer, even big comebacks are possible down to the last couple minutes. But in game modes where time is a big factor like KoTH or Oddball, it would be a lot easier since you could say it is literally impossible to comeback at a certain point.
