Forerunner had planetbuster ship. That’s way beyond anything Covenant mustered. One Forerunner draughnat decimated many Elite ships. That’s just one ship. Forerunner had tons of them. Covenant just copied Forerunner’s technology, but never fully exploited it.

Although I agree that the covenant would get smoked by the Forerunners, I have a tiny issue with what you said.
The Dreadnaught destroyed PRE Covenant Elite ships. The Elites went to reverse engineer their own Forerunner tech to try and defeat the dreadnaught, and then decided they couldn’t win without doing so and thus decided to just join the Covenant. So the Covenant we ran into had much more advanced ships than what the Sanghelli were using when they first joined the covenant.
But yeah, the covenant wouldn’t stand a chance. One of the Forerunner saga books (I can’t remember which) said that the Forerunner War Sphynx in the battle of Charum Hakkor, were destroying ancient human ships, and the war sphynx was like a mech, not a battleship. Imagine what a fleet of dreadnaughts would do to covenant ships.
