We all know the outcome of the Forerunner-Flood war, but what if the Forerunners were given a second chance? If, after activating the Halos and purging the galaxy, they rebuilt the Ecumene to its former might and population, could they defeat another Flood invasion given the experience and intelligence gained from the first war?
I mean, yeah. They’d just activate the Halo array again and “tada!” no more Flood for like another era or two.
Unless the Flood develop an immunity to the Halo effect, that panic button is always an option to get rid of them.
That would be cool, however this is not possible.

I know it’s not possible, just a hypothetical scenario. I wanted people’s opinions on whether the Forerunners could defeat the Flood if they had experience, because in my opinion the fact they had no idea how to fight the Flood at first was the key factor that caused them to lose the war.
Doubt it.They most likely wouldnt have the ressources.
The Forerunners only had the chance to use the Halos the first time around because the Flood let them.
And don’t forget, the Flood took out the Greater Ark before the Forerunners could fire off the array, so I’m confident that if the Forerunners had tried to rebuild, the Flood would have destroyed the second Ark out from under them.
(Keep in mind, we have no evidence of the Star Roads and other Neural Physical structures in Path Kethona having been destroyed, so it is absolutely possible that the Flood would weaponize those and wipe out the Forerunners again).
If they got a do-over, I think they’d nuke every pheru in reach. Maybe just blow up that ship full of mystery vials. Maybe also check in with Mendicant Bias and his fifty years with an unaccounted-for Halo ring. Or perhaps the Master Builder wouldn’t test fire a Halo at Charrum Hakkor.
It cannot be overstated how much of the outcome of this conflict was in the hands of the Forerunners. They got played and played and played and played until the Gravemind didn’t need to play them to win anymore.

True, however I learned from things like Halo Waypoint’s Article on the Incineration cannon, the Forerunners did develop weapons, but you know the Flood. They are very stubborn.
