So, anyone got any tips or tricks? Or are they just a poorly designed bullet sponge that take several clips then teleport away to safety?
So far they’re not fun to fight, in fact they making me dislike the game a lot.
Is there something I’m missing?

It’s Legendary.
They’re supposed to be frustrating
Don’t have the game yet but I know the reviewers at Kotaku also hated the Prometheans for the same reason. They said they were great variety on Normal but were annoying chores on Legendary.
That is why I play Heroic first, it has that nice balance of story, badass Spartan feel and has less of the bullet sponge that Legendary has always suffered from.
I’ve already noticed noob combo and non-human weapons are your friend. Anything else feels like bullet sponge. Further there are a lot of grenades so use them at choke points and multiple enemies.
Heh, H2 sup bro? (/ reincarnation )
I thought the SNIPERS were going to be bad, now they beefed them up to H2 brute like strength, AND TELEPORT? H2 I missed you!
I don’t have disc yet, but I’d say try to snipe as much as possible, and look for weapons around that 343I thought could help, maybe a way behind it.
Protip: Noob combo still works wonders on the Prometheans. Plasma Pistol EMP > two shots to the head = dead Promethean.
Just finished solo Legendary myself; it’s a real hassle at some points and you’re bound to die a couple of times.
kinda disappointing f noob combo has same effects on knights as elites
The real problem is that their shields recharge faster than any other shields in the game, on Legendary I think their shielding completely restores while they’re teleporting. I’ve yet to see what a charged EMP from the Plasma Pistol does to them.
While the Battlewagon class of Promethean can take the most damage, I’m finding the Knight Lancers and their Binary Rifles extremely annoying.
I can’t noob combo cause I only have Prometheun weapons. So far the best bet is to speed run passed them. I don’t mind hard games, I didnallmof Reach on LASO but these guys are flat out annoying.

Oh god
why?! That is going to suck.

You’ll soon find out that the hardlight shield is your best friend on Legendary for locating Jackal snipers and Lancers.
Noob combo is always going to work, I also hear needler does wonders on a legendary playthrough.
This is just skepticism at best but it’d seem the best AI is on Heroic and the Legendary AI are downgraded; they’re merely more accurate, do more damage, fire for a longer duration.

Halo 2 Stealth Elites, one of the worst things in Halo, have been surpassed! :o
Do Battlewagons have an unique ability like the Lancers (they still do that zig zag attack right?)?

Good to hear even on legendary it’s able to take the hits.

All Promethean Knights are capable of teleporting rapidly for that powerful melee attack, and on Legendary it’s a one-shot kill. Battlewagons are unique in that they have Promethean Vision as their AA and wield the Scattershot. You can run from them, but you can’t hide (actually you can’t even run from them.)
Knight Commanders, however, go about things differently. They release a shock impulse when you are close to send you sprawling backward and causing damage to shielding. It makes sense for them to have this functionality because they are the enemies which wield Incineration Cannons (and getting too close will offer them no weapon defenses, only their melee capabilities.)
Sounds tough.
Awesome.
The only approach I’ve taken is the most complex tactic of them all. Shoot it until it dies.
Community did ask for it too be harder
Oh god this is going to be hard. O_o
Just some other information I’ve found out:
