I know that everyone knows the forerunners disappeared when the halo rings were activated, some people might think they died but what if they didn’t die, what if the forerunners came back in halo infinite somehow. but if they do why and how did they come back, and where were they for so long. let me know what you think.
Forerunners have been back since Halo 4.
There’s still Forerunners in the Galaxy. Some audio logs in Halo 5, namely those in Genesis (planet) are narrated by a Forerunner Miner, with him even mentioning Cortana and everything.
There a few avenues for Forerunners to return, though whether they’ll be in Infinite remains to be seen:

Didact is believed to be in the Domain or at the least trapped in a hard to reach location after the events of Halo 4 (see the comic Halo: Escalation)

The Librarian AI is probably wherever the Absolute Recoed ended up at the end of Halo: Escalation.

Halo 5’s intel mentions a location named Bastion that a Forerunner Builder is looking for and seemingly finds.

Several Forerunners went into self-imposes exile after the rings fired and could theoretically have descendants or preserved themselves somehow like in a Cryptum or stasis.
However, I’d say the chances are fairly low.
That would be awesome,i loved the Didact and it would be great to see more of them.

For me,Prometheans are some kind of Robots that run on Human energy/souls.
If they do show up, I hope they have the Halo Legends look. Just watched it recently and they looked cool.

They were. It’s likely that they’re called “Prometheans” because they were formed from the essences of the Forerunner Prometheans, who were an elite class of warriors within the Forerunner society. The Didact himself is a Promethean.
Of course, as we all know, the rest of the Knights are Humans.

What are the Crawlers and Watchers then?They look like dogs and birds,i really don’t like the idea that Prometheans need essences of Humans to function,i’ts just weird.They behave more like some Robots.

They’re pure robots. The Promethean Knights act robotic because when they were composed, they lost their ability to think independently, and are nothing without a leader. It pretty much explains why Jul 'Mdama ruled the Prometheans in Halo 4 (since he was an ally to the Didact, although the latter could care less), and they quickly betrayed him when Cortana contacted the Domain.
The essences are there to give them life, but it doesn’t give them emotions or memories. It’s just a kind of “fuel”.

So more of a Dumb AI rather than a Smart AI akin to a Monitor?
