I’m kinda feeling weird that the Forerunners are gonna be the Ancient Evil, not the Precursors. I mean you build up the Precursors for two books to play a massive role (possibly the enemy) yet it’s the Forerunners. Yeah the Forerunners were kinda bad in their actions, but their weren’t evil, the Precursors were more evil in a way, with their actions being so dark and twisted. I mean I love the Forerunners, but I was kinda hopin for it to be the Precursors.
Here’s the link showing evidence.
I disagree. I think the Master Builder and his crew are simply the harbingers for the real enemy: the precursors. Our main enemy in Mass Effect 1 was a turian…doesn’t mean turians were the main bad guys of the series.
Don’t think of it such cut and dry terms; I doubt it is that simple.
don’t feel weird because they aren’t the ancient evil. I think many fans wrongfully assume that ALL of the forerunners were these good pure natured beings. They were just as flawed as humans are. Some forerunners were sinister. Example: The Master Builder.

I know where you’re coming from, humans are meant to be the next inheritors of the mantel and the precursors want to see that happen and if we do inherit the mantel it would make the forerunners existence meaningless, kind of like the Prophets with their lies, humans where the only threat to their primacy, so they tried to eradicate us. I reckon for a portion of the trilogy we will be fighting forerunners because of our history with them and then later on the precursors decide that neither human nor forerunner is worthy of upholding the mantel and the flood is unleashed again in the precursors attempt at making a utopia of the dead as described in the end of Primordium. To be honest the enemy could be anything, we’ll just have to wait and see, but I see what you mean.
But isn’t the Didact still here? The Librarian? Bornstellar? Pikachu?
> But isn’t the Didact still here? The Librarian? Bornstellar? Pikachu?
Damn double post.
> But isn’t the Didact still here? The Librarian? Bornstellar? Pikachu?
Yes, but the Didact and Bornstellar are now one, and the Librarian is believed to be somewhere on installation 07, which we now know is possible with the slipspace bubble technology displayed in Halo Glasslands, which allows beings inside the bubble to be suspended in an everlasting state of youth, with the beings inside being able to view a thousand years in a day. A thousand years for the people outside and only a day for the people inside.

Um, the forerunners didn’t try to eradicate the humans because they saw them as a threat. They defeated the ancient humans because they kept encroaching on forerunner territory. Either way, forerunner has always had a feeling of respect/resentment toward humans. Humans defeated the flood, something the forerunners couldn’t do without firing the array. Also, what on earth makes you think the precursors want humans to inherit the mantel. Maybe I need to finish reading Primordium before you answer. So far it def seems like precursors are NOT friendly towards humans or forerunner.

I was talking about the prophets not the forerunners, I already knew that. And in-fact the forerunners and humans have had two wars, humans one the first.

Precursors aren’t firendly yes, but humans were the next to be tested before the precursors’s civilization was destroyed.
I just put up a thread about this today in the Halo Universe forum, its a good run down of the reasons why they could be.
I believe the forerunners even refer to this said “ancient evil” no one really knows what the ancient evil is yet i think. I could be wrong though.
Did they say that the Forerunners will be the primary enemy?
Well we don’t know just yet, even with that ad. I still believe it will be the Precursors, but I may be wrong.
> Well we don’t know just yet, even with that ad. I still believe it will be the Precursors, but I may be wrong.
It’d be pretty stupid to have all the emphasis established in the Forerunner novels about the Precursors being an “ancient evil” mean absolutely nothing.
wow.
btw OP - please change the title & make it spoiler free.
> btw OP - please change the title & make it spoiler free.
I was wondering when someone would suggest that, I posted quite a few spoilers in my earlier posts.
I mean mabey they just wanna seek revenge for our ancient war with them…plus now that they know that we are the inheritors they might want to do they did to the precursers to us, just a thought
