Frame rate is one of the the biggest obstacles that forgers (and the developers) face when creating maps. Things like object density, z-fighting, LoS, player count and object count all play their counter productive roles in the battle against frame rate and screen lag. Forged maps being considered for matchmaking must all support split compatibility. This is where it gets tricky, because when a map is played in split screen, all objects on the map are rendered twice, essentially doubling your frame rate loss and screen lag. Even things like super shields (flaming feet), teleporter and man cannon animations effect frame rate, and this bring me to the main concern of this thread.
Will Forerunner Vision cause frame rate loss? I noticed in Firefight today that when I activated nightvision, there was considerable screenlag and frame rate loss, which I’m sure many other players notice. Is this going to be another obstacle that forgers (and the developers!) must face? The frame rate drops that may occur because of this new AA? If it is anything like ODST’s VISR mode, or Reach’s nightvision mode, then it may yield undesireable frame rate loss across matchmaking and it’s maps, and add to the already lengthy list of formidable obstacles for forgers.
Thoughts?

yea, do we need to be worried about this? split screen reach is already super terrible as it is, in terms of screen lag. 2 people using this = destroy xbox? lol
This is an issue and I am confident 343 will fix it for Halo 4. Hopefully we will get some info during E3.
Doubt it’ll be much of an issue from what we’ve heard about Forerunner vision. From the sound of things it will have a limited range and display positions with an outline. To me it sounds similar to the Sonic Eye from Peace Walker, I’ll see if I can find a video of what I’m talking about.
EDIT: Here’s the Sonic Eye.
