Forerunner Vechicles

Anyone think we should have and what types

Well, we could have forerunner vehicles, but personally I don’t think it fits very well with just about anything forerunner. “Lets put a robot inside another robot” just doesn’t seem, in any way, their style. That said though there is something NEW we could do with big forerunner killing machines.

Have the hardware, but no driver as in introduce a new class of autonomous vehicles for multiplayer. Weaker than whatever UNSC or Covenant equivalent there is, but capable of executing certain search and destroy, support, defensive, or recon functions depending on how its ordered when activated.

And before anyone starts about “oh that’d be hard! We’d need new AI” I’ll remind you we had multiplayer AI’s in the 90’s. If a bunch of twirps wearing neon jackets could do it 343 certainly should be able to now.

I’m happy with the current vehicles. I really don’t want them adding new vehicles that turn out similar to that of the Mantis. Being forerunner, it would probably be incredibly OP anyway.

It’s much more complicated than that.

And if you’re one who likes to Forge complex maps, you’ll find that without proper NAV-meshes, your Forerunner AI would be quite defective.

So, don’t have AI’s on forged maps. Let’s not let an unwieldy feature which has had only a limited impact on multiplayer (certainly far less than Bungie promised, take a look back at the original vidoc if you don’t believe me) keep us from making strides in far more meaningful areas of gameplay.

It would work if we find them on an ancient Forunner world. They wouldn’t necessarily be piloted by Prometheans, as they would be relics from pre-composition, when Promethean Warrior-Servants were actually living beings. The Covenant Remnant could use them against you, much like they use Scatteshots and Boltshots in Spartan Ops.

As for the Prometheans themselves, it would be an interesting mechanic to have new Promethean castes that operate as unpiloted vehicles. If Prometheans can be dogs, and turrets, I’m sure they can be tanks and aircraft too.

And we’ve already seen one analog, the Forerunner Enforcer (Halo 2 super sentinel.) I think this could really help flush out the faction as something more than a more angular flavor of the same gameplay we’ve been slogging through for 12 years. There has to be something characteristically new about the prometheans and in terms of how they work in an FPS. The various mechanics introduced in Halo 4 were a start, but 343 can certainly do more and especially in their sandbox.

But to be fair, I am in a sense stealing this idea from Titanfall (where you do have the option for AI piloted vehicles. As a general rule that wouldn’t work for the Halo sandbox, but with the concept and a new faction wanting for new ideas we may still do cool things.)

Precisely. A Forerunner Tank had better be bigger than a Scorpion, and fire some kind of mega sustained death laser… 'Course that could be too much like a Locust… But if it could also fly! Just imagine the possibilities!

A Three-Team-Pilot-Forerunner-Levitating-Motorcycle-Thing! It runs down enemies and causes slip-space ruptures as a propulsion factor!!! It resembles a Shark!!!

No thank you. Breaks the theme of “Robots built to fight Flood” waaaaaay to much for me.

I think we need to remember the difference between Promethean and Forerunner.

There are very few forerunners left, so they are probably not going to be a sandbox element.

Prometheans can teleport. ERGO no major vehicles needed.

I think that there should be a flying forerunner vehicle in game.

I’ve also always liked the idea of a forerunner motorbike like in Terminator Slavation

I vote no. Forerunners used their suits to get around usually, and ships of any kind were rarely ever needed. Prometheans can teleport so vehicles are redundant there, and Forerunners are all dead minus the Ur-Didact and possibly the Iso-Didact.
