While in the Halo 4 Campaign Idea thread, the mentioning the idea of adding Terminals in Halo 4 that tell Chief’s past, I had my own idea. We already know Chief’s story, it’s in the books and comics, no need for a third. Instead, why not use a Forerunner take on the Audio Logs found in Halo 3: ODST?
Sadie’s Story was a highlight of the game and it was interesting to see mentions of what happened in the Audio Logs in the game world, ie the destroyed Oliphant, Virgil, and Dr. Endesha. I think it would be interesting to see a Forerunner’s experiences during the Forerunner-Flood War or the events that transpired on the sphere Chief is heading to in the Halo 4 teaser.
It adds more depth to the story and builds off the Forerunner-era lore. It’s a win-win.
Which is why I gave the alternate idea, revealing the past events on the sphere Chief is heading towards. Bear’s Forerunner trilogy is narrow in the grand scheme of things. Book one deals with Bornsteller, book two looks like it’s Chakas’ story, and book three is still up in the air.
I for one am curious how a civilian Forerunner would deal with a parasitic organism that tales over your body and mind invading his or her world. We don’t see much of that.

> Um, we didn’t know much about Human-Forerunner War and Forerunner-Flood War… this idea is excellent idea to expand the story on Forerunners.
I agree that it is a good idea, I am just trying to make a point.

Youre argument against the Master Chief backstrory idea is that it would be retelling a stroy for a third time, but you go and suggest that we should retell the forerunner stories. And before you say that it would just be adding more to the forerunners, why couldnt you tell new stories with Master Chief?
Um… story is mostly dedicated to Bornstellar, not entire Forerunners. And Halo 3’s terminals only offered limited scope so far. I think Vader’s idea will expand more scope on the Forerunners. It’s better than Chief’s past anyway because it wouldn’t make sense and useless in Halo 4.
We know Master Chief’s story, do we know the tale of the average Forerunner civilian facing the horrors of the Flood? No, we don’t. As for more stories with the Chief, he doesn’t have too much left. His bootcamp days are known, his major battles are known, and everything else we play. Chief isn’t the only person in the galaxy worth giving a damn over.
> What I dont understand is why your so against having both.
BECAUSE CHIEF’s past story has been told by those novels and comics! And we explained to you, IT IS POINTLESS and IT LITERALLY MAKES NO SENSE to be in Halo 4.
Because Chief’s story doesn’t add anything to the lore that it already didn’t contribute years ago. Compare that to a Forerunner civilian who has to escape the horrors of the Flood while watching those he or she loves mutate and spread the Flood.

How does it not make any sense? And it would not be pointless as it would be fun! And it would provide more backstory for the tons of halo fans that have not read the books or comics.

It shows that they are lazy to pick up the books about Chief…
If they do really care about Chief, at least they should picked up the book and learned something about Chief. Also, it wouldn’t make sense in Halo 4 due to two things: He is at Forerunner planet, likely outside of the galaxy. Also, 343i stated that you don’t need to play last trilogy to know about new trilogy because it will be set as new trilogy where new stories will take place. That is where Forerunners and Precursors will take its place.

OK. (Open your mind a little and bear((cwatididthar?)) with me)
It’s someone who got Born’s electronically stored diary (notice how it’s written in 1st person?) and was found by a human later in Halo lore (the reader) 343 cleverly breaking the 4th wall,(like Halsey’s journal did). And was translated by a Human AI.
Here’s what is in the book before the story starts:
> AI Translator: The best tactical translations involve automatic conversion to immediately understandable terms and phrases, including colloquialisms. That tradition has been followed in this work.
Now the last part ‘That tradition has been followed in this work’. I think when Humans uncover and translate Forerunner language and programme AI’s to translate Forerunner language the tradition to be followed is what that AI was created for. It’s its work to translate and that is the AI’s tradition
And if it was a Forerunner AI. It would be Ancilla, but it isn’t.

But that is a good reason to have it in there. If you are coming into the series at Halo 4, It would give you more information on the character your playing
