I would advocate some sort of baton to be added, if they would do that. We have a hammer and sword already, no sense adding something similar. Maybe the baton would have a shorter melee range, but you could shoot energy out of the end of it or something.

I dont think a Katan like we have today would be effective against alienmaterial.
Also the Energy Bayonett a energy weapon is human made,but it clearly has athestics from the energy sword.
What Iam saying is that the problem is to make that the weapon looks humanmade.

Ah, i see. They need a melee weapon for each faction to sort of add a balance in weapons types. They could add a energy katana, long knife or an energy bayonet like you mentioned.

Just think, “Swing of Justice” or “Slash of Glory” or something? And then of course you’d have variants like the blue and orange knight bosses in WZ.

It was only in Halo 3 as a marketing partnership with Team Ninja. It was used as an aesthetic and it doesnt fit the universe for Spartans to be using Katanas to fight aliens. I don’t know how you can’t see how out of place that is. And why are you getting so defensive and questioning whether or not someone has played a certain Halo game? Yes, of course I have played 3 as seen in my stats. My point would be equally valid if I hadn’t played Halo 3. Calm down. I thought this was a civil discussion.

It is. A Spartan can easily kill an Elite, brute or jackal with a Katana, energy weapons and armor don’t always metal weapons or other equipment. I’m not being hostile, so I don’t know why I need to calm down, I’m not mad lol. It fits in the universe if it already appeared before. Not everything needs to be super advanced to fit the Universe.

Questioning a Halo fan’s “credentials” is kinda hostile. At least in the way you presented your statement. I absolutely disagree with you on a Katana being added to the Halo sandbox. I think it would be out of place in Halo’s science fiction setting and think that 343 could be a bit more creative than that in designing a new UNSC melee weapon. Have a nice day.
OK i am back and read the arguing on here , as creator of the question i will throw in my 2 since :the unsc weapon is something vary cool to think on and yes the katana ( if in lore made out of titanium or something as durable ) could work and give the halo 3 fans a reason to play halo 6 and another weapon would also work with halo unsc but the only question is what weapon is leathal , powerful , and doesnt play like the energy sword? well, what about a electric spear called the " unsc shock spear" something like the black spears the emperial gaurds had in star wars ep 6 but with the ability to jab and prod people and it can be used in machinima for gaurds as well , thanks for your time , and lets play some halo.
