Forerunner Enemies and Weapons Finally Done Well

Campaign gameplay and interacting with the A.I has been one of my favourite parts of the Halo Franchise since I received Halo CE for pc as a gift in 2003. I’ve enjoyed the care and love that has gone into crafting and balancing enemies, weapons, environments and encounters.

Now personally, I didn’t enjoy the story as much as I’d hoped in Halo 5, but I really did enjoy the gameplay and the way the environments were crafted to best utilize the new Spartan Abilities, and I really enjoyed the way that the Forerunner Enemies and Weapons were designed/redesigned this game.

My main question here, was what did you think about the Promethean Enemies and the Forerunner Weapons? I’ll admit that I wasn’t overly impressed with them in Halo 4. The Knights were huge bullet sponges, and the Watchers were really annoying, though the Crawlers were alright. There just seemed to be no unique strategies necessary for tackling them verses the other enemy variants in the campaign, and the Forerunner weapons in Halo 4 felt like the were clones of the existing UNSC and Covenant Weapons. I also thought that there were too few new enemy types and Forerunner weapons added in Halo 4.

Now onto Halo 5. I have to say that I thought they did a really good job of making the Prometheans feel a like a different enemy type than the Covenant that really did require different strategies to take them down. I also felt that that the Forerunner weapons finally felt different and unique compared to the other weapons in the game. I also liked the inclusion of the Forerunner Phaeton, though I could have stood to see a couple more Promethean Vehicles.

TL;DR, I thought that the Forerunner Enemies and Weapons finally had the unique flavour that they were lacking in Halo 4. Thoughts?
