Forerunner Blade - Pic and Vid

Hello, and please give this a gander.

Is the Knight holding something that appears to be a sword? The Knight’s ‘hand’ is wrapped around something that looks like a hilt, similar to the way they operate Light Rifles and Scattershots. This particular weapon ^ certainly seems to be useable by another party…

I thought it might be a gunblade, but it turns out the weapon is not defined to one image. Please watch this, and note how the same weapon is carried by both Knights, in different forms. The first Knight is carrying a sword-like weapon and the second is carrying a hook-like weapon, but they’re both holding the same blade.

Looks like it. Good picture btw

I mentioned this a month ago, wasn’t a big hit, I’d love to get this thread rolling so the Halo community can churn out a theory or two.

Maybe it can switch between a blade and a rifle? I also think it’s cool how the blade is graded between visible hardlight at the tip and near invisible towards the hilt. To edit and add I think this weapon may be a trump card on the sword. It looks like a cleaver and may be able to cut through the Energy Sword’s blade.

I think it’s more aesthetically pleasing to have the blade like that rather than like the Energy Sword. Plus I think it makes it easier to differentiate between the Covenant and Forerunner weapons. Having said that, it does seem usable but I doubt it will be a gun as well as a blade.

Will we be able to use this blade? It would be cool if we could

I think I understand the spine frame. After re-watching this video, it occurred to me that both Knights in the video are using the same blade weapon, but that one appeared as a straight blade (like the picture in OP), and the second was in the form of a large hook. I suppose the weapon is melee-specific, but that it’s also malleable and perhaps random in its design.

There are two classes of Knight that we know of so far, normal and Lancer. The second one is a Lancer. So far no evidence points to this blade being usable by anything but Prometheans. It’s possible, but we’ll have to wait to find out for sure.

That’s cool!

Would be kind of redundant depending on how it works. I would like to use the hook to extend and bring foes towards me. GET OVER HERE

The Developer that is talking… he implies that the Promethean’s them selves are one of the 7 new enemy class’s… do you know what I mean by what I said? Hes implying that there aren’t just Promethean’s.

Can you imagine? Hard light Promethean Knight blade replacing Katana on a Spartans back?

look at the knight’s t-rex arms. lol

> Will we be able to use this blade? It would be cool if we could

I agree. And you could disintegrate your opponents as well… Damn sounds amazing

That picture reminds me soo much of a assassins creed Trailer.

It would be cool if Prometheans had swords that could take any shape (hook, axe, chainsaw, drill, energy sword. The possibilities are endless!) or varying blades. It would be a great start.

Noticeable variety has been lost since H2. Every Covie in CE had different variants: Jackals with helmets, Elites with squid-like helmets, Grunts with curlback methane tanks, Hunters with darker armor. Marines lacked variety in appearance though this was made up by the variety in “rank” (crew members, marines with boonie hats) and performance (the marine prisoners on T&R do better than most marines).

In H2, practically every Covie is uniform in appearance (all Elites had combat armor with secondary coloring, all Grunts had the same methane tank, all Jackals did not wear helmets). They are only distinct in dialogue (see Honor Guard Councilor article on Halopedia for explanation). The marines themselves are pretty much the same as well, with only facial differences. Only 1 marine manages to distinguish himself (a bloodied up individual on Cairo Station). In behavior, there was even less distinction. A lot of Elite ranks but most of them act the same.

H3 brought back a little variety, as Elites had differing shade of color. But it was mostly marines that were variable. A few Elite ranks but most of them act the same.

Reach also had variety (Grunt Ultra, Grunt Heavy, all Elite ranks look different) but it was mostly marines that were variable (there were some mystery troopers being talked about IIRC). More Elite ranks but most of them act the same.

H4 needs to make enemies distinct again, in appearance and in behavior. Knights will have a variant called Lancer. And there will be other variants as well for each Promethean enemy IIRC!

Good find.

yes, spartans need their own sword like a hard light katana to compete with elites and promethean knights.

i think it is his hand…? has anyone noticed that the weapons seem to be apart of the knights? and that they have two smaller hands?

Yes the blade appears to be seamlessly one with the Knight. However the Suppressor in his other ‘hand’ is held in the same way, with the bright spade-like appendages wrapped around the rifle’s grip. The sword has such a handle and can be seen betwixt the Knight’s grubby graspers.
