I completely agree.

As the premiere competitive mode, nobody should be competing in an environment that expects the most from you, especially for incredibly casual challenges that players are going to grind out in favor of playing the game the way it was meant to be played.

If the challenges can be completed in ranked, that’s ok, but the challenges should absolutely not revolve around ranked participation.

The only thing I didn’t like about rank was MCC’s long waiting times to find games :yawning_face: and fear of ranking negative :sob:

I like ranked now because you start off with the battle rifle. At first I was skeptical that every game is going to be difficult but I’ve played more difficult “quick play” matches than most ranked matches I’ve played here in infinite :+1:

I like the rank system too. Try qualifying and really see if you don’t like ranked. Also it’s cool to play against players around your skill level unlike “quick play/social” where the skill is all over the place :woozy_face:

What happens if you use a challenge swap to swap out a ranked challenge? Does it give you another rank challenge? I haven’t tried this but I’m curious now :thinking:

I’ve swapped Ranked challenges several times already, still Ranked.

I too find this stupid.

The game has lost a tremendous amount of players, so perhaps ranked is suffering and they need more to play it - so they force the players that like to enjoy casual, to do Ranked. It’s sound logic - it’s just wrong though.

Casual players… don’t want to do ranked. We want to enjoy the game… and now… we get to enjoy even less of this 'game". I swear it’s just a cash shop with a action play area to show off your purchases though.

To make matters worse - there’s a bunch of ranked requirements, and theres a bunch of forced gameplay styles to do, AND BTB is broken and you can’t reliably get into games… so…

honestly… they are killing the game.

I can’t see how the casual player wouldn’t want to start of with the battle rifle. My friend hasn’t played halo in years and once he found out that ranked starts off w/ the battle rifle, we’ll that’s all we play :partying_face:

This was actually confirmed to be the case in the Playlist and Challenge news post on Waypoint. Ranked challenges will always flip for another ranked challenge.

I got the exact same Ranked challenge where I have to win 2 Ranked matches, even though I already have an active one. It’s incredibly stupid how the challenge system works, and forcing Ranked down players’ throats like this is repulsive. “tRY pLaYinG oUtSidE yoUr cOMfOrT zOnE” Those kinds of people need to -Yoink!- and realize that people play games to have fun, not be a grindy chore.

I think challenges being forced into any game mode is the bigger issue. We wouldn’t have this issue if we could complete challenges across all game modes.

I’m more of a team based player, and having to play FFA isn’t really my cup of tea. Same goes for ranked. I get off of work and deal with life’s bs, then hop on to Halo Infinite to do chores in ranked of all modes? It’s just frustrating.

My god grow up you wimps. Don’t play ranked then and ignore the challenges. Play what you want instead. The reward for doing them is pathetic anyway.

I can’t stand Fiesta and btb but if there’s a related challenge I will just play the one/two games required and get it done.

This game gives super easy challenges anyway so babies can have their participation trophies. It’s supposed to be a challenge not just unlock all the rewards by playing normally.

This week’s challenges are HCS themed so ranked is the gimmick. They announced this and made it very clear that swapping them will just give more ranked challenges.

It would be different if the ranked challenges were just “play X games” or “get Y kills” type stuff, but “WIN matches” means to literally be playing ranked, for ranked purposes.

Ranked is “play to win” style. Even though the current system rewards K:D more than winning via objective (which is a problem) it is the “go to play serious” place. it is not the place to focus on Challenges (in this case) that have near nothing to do with the match itself. When it is ranked slayer - your only goal is to keep your team alive and kill the enemy team more. It doesn’t matter if you use sword camping methods, or bait and switch, or grenade spamming (another problem in the game, we shouldn’t start with 2 grenades, it’s just all nade spam)

Challenges get specific and sometimes silly requirements, like 10 kills with the Heatwave. Imagine that in a Ranked match? Imagine someone having 10 kiills with heatwave, and Win 3 oddball Ranked matches, and deciding “hey I’ll work on these at the same time” and goes into ranked hoping for oddball, then scoours the map trying to find a heatwave to use, if available.

While “it can be done” it doesn’t mesh well. Your actively taking time/focus away from 1 category, to put into another. In this case, you don’t care about ranked games at all - just doing the challenge and it HAPPENS to require it to be done in ranked matches.

Challenges themselves need an overhaul. I say put a list of the challenges for us to pick from, and we select the 3 (or 4 if you battle passed) to work on at a time. This way players can see “win btb” and “win stockpile” at the same time, and pick both of them, increasing the chance in BTB matchmaking to get a stockpile match, to win, toward both challenges.

Then for those that loved ranked they can pick all the “ranked” challenges - so they constantly get the things they work toward as well, while the casuals can just get on and play how they like to play. It’s win/win really. The “challenge swappers” can either be REMOVED (as they should be, eff that filler) or used as a “I decided I don’t like this one, let me swap out to another instead” function.

It sure has been fun (sarcasm) having the “win 5 ranked matches” challenge, when my team keeps having 1-2 people quit/crash every single game basically guarantee a loss every freakin match.

Oh and those worried about "well what if someone just does challenges all day? " well that’s easy. If we currently get 15 weekly challenges to do , that is the limit. It doesn’t matter if you pick ‘casual’ or ‘rank’ based challenges, just 15 and for the week and your done. Problem solved. Same amount of challenges (assuming we currently get 15 that is) and same XP - but allowing players to truely play how they desire, instead of force feeding players into different modes.

Just means it wasn’t meant for you is all. If you want it down the line maybe they’ll give you another opportunity to get the toy at a different time and possibly even a different way to acquire it.

If you’re bad, the hidden MMR in the game will automatically rank you with players of similar skill.

That’s why some people get Silver and others get Diamond after their 10 placement matches. The game is already ranking you as it is, it’s just invisible.

So there’s almost no difference between Ranked and Social.

If this weekly cosmetic just happens to require ranked play to unlock, then why lock it behind 7 Ranked Challenges which requires literally grinding and winning ranked games to complete? That’s pretty much just playing ranked already, as opposed to “just so happening to require ranked play”

One would also be able to technically swap out any Ranked challenges for the week to “normal” challenges, but no! You swap a Ranked Challenge and it becomes a Ranked Challenge again! If that’s the case, why isn’t this reward not simply put into Ranked modes? Why “offer” it as a chance for grabs to all players? That just ain’t right.

For the record, I’ve already cleared the challenge for the week. It still doesn’t make this week’s FOMO reward any more logical to require Ranked play. And to be frank, I’m sick of Ranked, just like I was sick of Fiesta after being done with Tenrai pass.

I need to complete 7 more challenges to attempt the ultimate weekly challenge. Ranked games are difficult, but quickplay can also be really difficult sometimes. I prefer ranked more because of the BR starts.

Since the weekly challenges started, my challenge was to capture 7 enemy flags. Okay… I used a swap. Capture 2 enemy flags. Okay great, that is possible.
Another challenge in my current 3 active is to get a kill with a fusion coil. I like that one.

10 hours multiplayer later in all different playlists… Not one game of CTF and not once the map Fragmentation for the fusion coil.

I don’t wanna use more challenge swaps for these kinda easy challenges. Because if we finish the battle pass, we won’t get challenge swaps without paying money, at least with the current system.

An objective playlist would be really nice but yeah…

This is the problem with the Challenge system by forcing you to play the game how they want you to. I had a grey Challenge for completing 2 team slayer matches, didn’t work with bot, rank, fiesta or swat. So even tho I was playing team slayer I had to “specifically” click on the team slayer playlist. Challenge system just need to be generic, like kill 100 enemies in multiplayer, win 10 matches or earn 50 assist. That way you can play which ever gametype or playlist you want.
