Forced DLC

Reach’s population is really fragile, and if 343 forces players to buy dlc for playlists, then players will probably play another game.

Halo 3 didn’t have to deal with this problem. Bungie forced players to downlaod maps for specific playlists, and people were willing to pay. Now everyone is hyped up on Cod and gears.

No one is forced to buy any DLC, except for the DLC specific playlists, which doesn’t exist anymore. The only playlists requiring any downloaded maps, are the maps for the Anniversary playlists. You are just encouraged to buy the maps, not required to.

I really don’t get why people get their knickers in a knot about DLC Maps. They are only 400 MS Points each now so that’s like $5 each, its less than a Big Mac from Mcdonalds or a 1/4 price of a Packet of Smokes. If you ask me its really cheap and your missing out on great maps for a measly $10

I think the OP is referring to the one of the possible solutions forum users have been talking about for getting DLC to come up more often, and I have to agree. Making people buy the stuff as a possible solution would hurt the population more than it would help the DLC-having players. Even though the DLC may have gone down in price, being free or making a DLC-only playlist are the best possible solutions that players have come up with.

Exactly, it is just recommended

Why spend $10 at all on something you don’t want?

It may just be a Big Mac, but spending money on an unnecessary burger is still blowing it away.

As for DLC recommendations in Halo Reach, it’s unforgivable. I can bet that the majority of you who bought the maps are completely unaware of this, and never will be fully. And furthermore, I’m fine with the intitial update saying “Hey, we’ve just shipped a bunch of new maps if you’re interested.” But endlessly bombarding me with warnings about how I “don’t have the recommended maps for this Playlist!” is almost enough for me to wipe every bit of Halo DLC from my xbox out of spite for Reach’s overly-direct marketing.

Restricted playlists is one thing to contend with, but frankly pestering people to buy the maps is a much greater evil that must be stamped out.

The fact that Premium Battle was removed, has me thinking we will indeed see some playlists go DLC required in the very near future.

My money’s on Squad Slayer.

Surely that can’t be that annoying. I feel as if it’s more annoying for the people that bought a product and now are essentially unable to play it except in something like Doubles.

I’m more insulted that Microsoft stopped following Bungie’s initial DLC plans that would offer the content early for a price and then release it for free a couple months later. This made DLC ideal because players could all eventually play it.
