Can I just point something out…

So, as of December the 26th, Halo 5 had 3.37m total units
Yes, this is ALOT lower than some other Halo games.
However, let’s compare it to some other “successful games”
Halo 5 : 3.37 million
Halo MCC: 2.95 million
Destiny: 3.16 million
CoD Ghosts: 2.74 million
Titanfall: 2.81 million
So again, these may not be 100% correct…
However, if they are…can you really call Halo 5 a fail? More sales than CoD ghosts, destiny and titanfall…all “successful” games.
So I ask, is Halo 5 really a fail?

Not a chance.
You must take into account that Halo 5 shipped with the normal (60), deluxe (100), collectors (250), and xbox (500). This alters it by a lot. Also, other than destiny (questionable), the games you listed are considered complete fails (Ik MCC is in there, i liked it but a lot didnt)

Not that I agree with the OP’s facts, but why doesnt that make sense? People bought an X1 for Halo, Destiny had huge backlash and is still hated on to this day, and its exclusivity deal is with Playstation. Keep in mind that the numbers he are stating are for the Xbox One only. And VG Chartz estimates everything.
More people are playing Destiny. Though with your stats it sold less, and was released a year ago.
MCC was a buggy mess of a game, yet it sold nearly 3 million on the Halo name and the franchises legacy.
Battlefront sold 2.7 Million and has more regular players.
Black Ops 3 sold 5.79 million. Yes it’s COD but you included COD. Only BLOPs 3 is more relevant given its release.
Do with those facts what you will.
(Ps. it’s also worth noting that anyone not attached to Halo by the hip swapped over to PS after the 360, so the PS versions of these games sold way more. In essence you’d think that would mean a bigger percentage of Xbox Players are also Halo fans, yet they are playing other games. Makes me wonder if MS didn’t cost themselves more of the Halo community with the bad Xbone reveal).

Destiny had 10 months on Halo 5 and a ton of us Halo fanboys were curious to see what Bungie were up to and bought it. Literally everyone I know with an xbox bought it. I’m not saying it was a good game(it wasn’t) but it had the curiosity factor AND TEN MONTHS more. No way Halo outsold it in 2 months, much as I wish it did.
I may be wrong here, but I think when people say Halo 5 didn’t sell well, they’re comparing it to the past Halos, not different games, at least most of the time.

Yeah I’ve seen both as well, but I believe the majority of the time it’s being compared to the previous Halos. Which in that case, yes, it sold poorly.
However, I don’t believe a game’s success should be judged on how well it sold, but on how many people continue to play it days, weeks, months, and years down the road.

halo wont get many more sales now that launch and christmas are behind us. The next several months leading to that 10 month mark, Halo will see minimal sales, so will every other game that came out in the fall

sorry i didnt realise my own mistake i thought you meant dollars which is what i wrote to
selling loads maybe, maintaining an online community not so sure, seeing tons of preowned copies in the game shop half price…

Another thing the haters does not take into account is that Halo 5 has been around for roughly 3 months. And they are comparing it to full life-span sales numbers. Haters will always be haters.
Are these Xbox only numbers? I have to agree that they seem kinda off.
I swear why compare halo 5’s sales with its previous titles. We all know the old players have either moved onto something different, stopped playing games, or continued to play. This makes so much more sense, compare Halo 5 to other known titles. What I find interesting is that Halo 5 is not most played or even in the top 10 according to most played in the XBL dashboard.
Nobody is really arguing the fact that it didn’t sell… it’s just the majority of people who bought it weren’t impressed by it and aren’t playing it anymore…
These are only Xbox sales. If you go to the site and look up these games it will show it on all platforns. Black ops has sold somewhere around 19 million on all platforms and 5 million on xbox.
