It’s completely bull that in order to play a game, I must first spend 8 minutes losing one.
Joining into a game that’s 40-10 doesn’t sound that bad… except for the fact that the game started 8v2 and the other team now has laser, your banshee, your hog, and has destroyed your mech. There’s no coming back from that. Period. Unless your enemies are possibly the worst players in the history of Halo, you’ve lost. The game is over. It’s done.
When you get to high-level play, the vast majority of games are decided by the first 60 seconds of the game and the power struggle over the first power weapons. First power weapons mean a good 10 kill advantage, as well as map control. This advantage means first ordnance. First ordnance drops mean an even bigger lead and an easy time stopping their ordnance. 10 kill advantage, map control, first ordnance, and power weapons to use when they finally get some? Game over.
Join in progress is by far the worst thing in this game.
You dont like joining a losing team, thats fair enough, but what about those on a team that are outnumbered due to a quitter? should they have to put up with a beating as a result like in REACH?
It may be annoying but it does work well, patience is needed

If you want to play like that then fine but it should be optional.
The fact that you can quit at will with no consequences is insane anyway.
Besides, I loved being on the outnumbered team (slayer at least). It added another challenge.

Don’t bother… they probably don’t even remember how horrid it was in the past Halos with that scenario happening constantly.
first of all, JIP works both ways. that means you can leave the losing game and find another one. You don’t have to sit there and play a losing game if you don’t want. there is no more penalty for quitting thank god!
JIP isn’t going anywhere, and rightfully so. Its an improvement to MM.

I don’t like games being decided before they start. If that’s the game, may as well play dice.
>Game starts 2v5
>Teams roughly equally skilled means team of 5 beats 2 into dust and gets power weapons + map control
>3 players join 10 seconds into the game
>5v5 score 20-0
>Game appears winnable by either team
>Reality kicks in:
It’s a 5v5 with a 20 point difference… but one team got free map control and all of the power weapons. This means a much, much bigger lead, as well as first ordnance, cascading to an even bigger lead.
The game is over. The team that started with 5 has won. Not because they out-played the enemy. Not because they beat them to power weapons. Not because they earned map control. They won because power weapons and map control were given to them. There was no out-playing needed.
The game was literally decided before it started. As a big-team player since Halo 2 that has always dealt with quitters, I view that as a MUCH bigger issue than quitters.

Yeah, they should. Just because some guys quit out of a game leaving some other guy doesn’t mean I should be punished and given a loss on my record. If anything it should be optional.
I personally just quit everytime I get JIP in a game I am already losing and I always back out after a match.
JIP needs to:
make it so when you get tossed into a game beign lost only a win and KD superior to your current average gets counted. Losses and bad KD doesnt get recorded since you couldnt control the opening rush
matches need to wait all 15 seconds for a full party of 4v4 or 8v8 to form up before stating a game.
What did you expect? Isn’t it a known fact that 343i went straight for the jugular when it came to copying CoD? It’s no surprise they added something as stupid as JIP.
Halo 4 multiplayer for me at the moment is just Call of Duty in a Halo skin. I despise JIP on any multiplayer game. Having the new loadout options isn’t a terrible addition but its straying away from traditional Halo. Lag issues come along with any game and you just have to make the best of it. I just hope they don’t manage to ruin the game any more than they already have.
I hope the comment about JIP going away when ranked playlists are introduced is correct, otherwise i can see myself going back to Reach multiplayer.
I agree with you in regards to the join in progress system. This isn’t Call of Duty where no one cares about wins. Halo players want to win, but the join in progress system just hands out losses to players who aren’t in a full party.
