I just had a game where the AI had zero kills and seven deaths. We lost the game 50-48. You ruined my match.
They add nothing to the game. Turn them off.
Turn off Join in Progress. No one ever liked it in Halo 4, no one likes it now.
Punish players for leaving. We didn’t have this issue on Halo 3 or Halo :Reach because there was a proper punishment to XP and progression. Not just a 5 minute ban like MCC or nothing at all like this game.
Turn off AI. Turn off Join in Progress. Punish quitters. This is not Halo.
You lot keep changing things that never needed changing. If it isn’t broke, don’t hired a 6 month contractor to fix it.
Or better yet, upgrade A.I. players to be ODST or Spartan level instead of basic Marine level.
And as for Join-In-Progress, it hardly works in Infinite.
I had a match where the enemy team to replacement after replacement after replacement, where they had 7 players rotate in the game. Meanwhile my team only had me and my buddy, with no other players coming in and no bots spawning for my team.
We lost but I feel a sense of pride in knowing I got 27 kills.
Definitely should be off in slayer type modes modes but on for objective. Making the bots Spartan level needs to be dependent on the MMR of the player they are replacing. Can’t have them being too much better than the new/unskilled players.
The ones that keep getting dumped in my games to ‘balance’ some high level player’s team. I’d estimate at least a third of my games involve one or more players with less than 5 games experience.
I try not to get to upset with them because I know the game needs a continual supply of new players and they didn’t ask for the matchmaking to screw them over. It’s hard though when they actually get outperformed by bots.
I mean not boot camp and the weapon drills exist for a reason.
Yeah. I wish people understood that the object of slayer isn’t to win by getting 50 points. The objective is to prevent the enemy from getting 50 points.
If you aren’t dying, then they aren’t winning.
I’ve had game were we lost because our top player was like 20-19.
Even at Spartan level the bots are laughable bad. They are handful in objective matches to toss the flag or ball too, but in Slayer they feed the enemy team.
Hopefully they are at least competent and aren’t too accurate.
I recall the days of playing Black-Ops 1 with bots set on the higher difficulty, they just practically aim-locked onto you as soon as a pixel of your playermodel passed into their field-of-view.
And then you have the bots of Siege which just lock onto your head and have terrible recoil control leading to random death by headshot, with the higher the difficulty making them more aware and better at controlling recoil.
I need to play a custom game with Spartan-level bots to give them a test run again. Been awhile.
Bots should not be put into slayer mode period. almost always they end up negative which makes the team lose if everyone else is at least breaking even. For KOTH and oddball they are just distracting fodder but if they die a bunch doesn’t really have a huge impact as they don’t provide any real help anyhow. The rejoin feature should only apply to the first very short period of the start of a game. Too many times I’ve spawned into losing games with very little time left to where it’s like why bother. I usually play it out but it’s stupid to come into a game that you’re destined to lose. Both of these issues shouldn’t be too hard to address but who knows.
Halo 3 and Reach did, in fact, still have issues with players leaving, and being stuck in unfair matches if you didn’t leave. Think in a lot of their social playlists, people didn’t care enough about penalties to progression, and got into a habit of simply quitting when they were losing/not having fun.
They could selectively allow bots and JIP depending on whether it’s Slayer, where bots getting killed matters, and whether it’s a ranked playlist. Stubbornly demanding a one size fits all approach isn’t it.
I too feel bots are not helpful; in my experience they only hinder a team’s ability to win. I think they either need to be upped to “Spartan” level or just turned off. I would much rather play a 3v4 with a chance at winning then a 4v4 with a bot and know that, if the other team is thoughtful, they will prioritize farming the bot as much as they can.
If you have trouble with Spartan bots you aren’t terribly good at the game tbh. That’s not me being rude it’s just true and that’s not specifically direct at you.
I don’t know why you say that to Rambo as if it’s a gotcha (that how it comes across), since most of the playerbase is not terribly good (by definition, otherwise it would just be averagely good…) and also in those matches bots should be balanced. You can’t have it that for the lower half of the community it would be better to bully one player out of their match so they get replaced by a bot that is way better. That would wreck matches just as bad.
I fully agree that the skill of the bots are an issue, but just making them spartan bots will not fix it, but just shift part of the issue.
Best thing would be to have the bot be about as skilled as the player that left (between 90-100% of the skill). That way you won’t be negative or positively affected by a bot, since both are bad. Bots could then still go way negative from time to time, but then it’s only because the player that left would also go severely negative. But if one of the better players leave, the bot would also do very good in that match. To me that seems to be the fairest way.
