ADS would restrict movement and it would serve as a crutch if you will to players. But if you watch gameplay from someone like Ready Up Live for example. He barely ever uses it except when the zoom is needed. If you also bothered to read about smart scope you would see that it doesn’t restrict movement like in games with ADS. So quit complaining.
ADS doesn’t mean slower movement speed it means exactly as it’s written, it means you are aiming down the sight of the gun. Hell Halo CE, 2, 3 and 4 have ADS except you just don’t see the gun (which is the only issue I have with Halo 5 atm)

When people talk about ADS they are typically referring to the mechanic and cosmetics, and not just the cosmetics.

I don’t know about typical but I’ve personally always interpreted it (and often seen it being interpreted) literally, e.g. Borderlands has ADS despite no effect on movement. Either way, he’s still technically correct. Aim down sights is pretty unambiguous, and it’s absolutely true that in Halo 5 you do aim down sights.
