Why do we want to find ways to monetize for them?
Id like to see my og stats migrated into a legacy “sunset” stat page.
Separate from recent mcc stats.
Only thing id actually pay for, and 343 should have done for free.
I brought this up because I keep seeing people push the idea this needs to happen for the future of MCC & the classic titles. Figured I’d get people talking about it here.
MTX should stay out of Halo MCC, PERIOD.
Even stadia could do a better job at this point
The reality is it DOESN’T NEED to happen with MCC it’s a misconception, a delusion even. MCC doesn’t need monetization for continued support, Infinite still generates plenty of cash for 343 so this shouldn’t even be a topic.
Yeah I agree with you.
I’ll call foul since iirc one of the devs may have confirmed that this isn’t really possible without basically remaking those maps from the ground up, which at that point is work better suited for just making something entirely new (regardless, Diamondback in particular is already partially in Halo 3’s files I believe).
I agree with most of the other stuff though, and would like to add that they could also release Invasion as a gametype for both H2A and Halo 4, alongside releasing Halo 4’s cut multiplayer maps to either Halo 4 or H2A (depending on which fits more) and revamping H2A’s and Halo 4’s forge modes with content from each.
If they made some dlc for pve id pay.
Blue team in cuba halo3 engine.
Maria 062 armour testing
Black team new mombasa
Halo 2 engine/H2A without classic view is possible.
But classic would do.
Arbiter CE classic engine parallel to the main campaign.
First strike CE mission pack
Reach ODST buck campaign.
Halo 3: code veronica campaign.
I had no issue with mcc mtx, i have plenty of cosmetics as is.
If it means support for the game with new maps, weapons etc id be fine with it to be honest.
A firefight map pack with spartan and elite firefight for odst.
Infinity Firefight for halo 4, with dominion elements and custom ordinance mKe for a good time also imo.
As long as the skin/new armor cosmetic toggle stays, I’m okay with MTX around the skins if it keeps support for MCC alive.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: NO MONETIZATION IN MCC, EVER!
MCC is for preservation NOT monetization.
Invasion would be so heavenly for Halo 4, since aggression/defense is inherently part of its design and so many of the loadout perks compliment them both.
I get where you’re coming from with Diamondback (and the possibility of other Halo 3 remade maps from Halo Online), but I realize that I don’t know if I’d want to pay money if it already exists in Halo 3, and paid map packs implies that there’s a larger budget for larger scale changes. If it was part of their free seasonal model, it’d absolutely be a ridiculous request since there’s no guarantee it would work with the differences in physics, gameplay, movement, etc. From a paid DLC pack model though, 343 has made more effort with completely original maps.
I’m also open to its inclusion in ODST and would pay for that. I’ve thought about how tricky having the two-base layout would be. It’s such a giant map, but so is Lost Platoon so it might work out. If it’s not fun to play due to its size and two base structure, they’d probably have to trim some geometry to compress it for the Xbox One, like Waterfall, so one half of the map could be removed to provide a better Firefight layout. Or one half could serve as a daytime variant, the other half for night. Even in the same engine, there’s a lot that could be done with this map.
Your recommendation for using it in Halo 3 with the new Forge content is solid, but I don’t know if I’d want to pay money for that.
Its a nice sentiment but nah.
Its a retail product not a labour of love and preservation.
Profitability breeds longevity
Honestly don’t care if season points were monetised, I want this game to continue getting content and an active playerbase I don’t want to go back to pre 2019 mcc population.
There’s not much you can monetise without the halo community going crazy, but I’d happily pay for a mega forge update to mcc. But then again what if mods and custom games browser someday go hand in hand? Maybe you’d pay for if you were stuck on console…?
Edit: maybe like in fallout/Skyrim developer made mods you can buy on console/pc but for mcc, flyable pelicans etc.
Pay walling forge expansions only undermies the utility of forge though.
Id actually prefer the system the community objected to tbh haha
Hard to win with halos community.
That’s exactly what MCC is. I don’t know what rock you’ve been under, but MCC is 100% a labor of love and preservation. Not only has it kept the original games in tact, it has also given us new ways to play said games, free of charge, well except Reach campaign and ODST firefight.
My point being, MCC doesn’t NEED microtransactions it’s 8 years old, if you want to play a monetized Halo game, GO TO INFINITE DON’T DESECRATE THE MCC!
Mate come on now.
Sure the mcc team have passion and made great strides to make it more accurate to the originals.
But the game was puahed out preamture to sell xbox ones and drum up hype for halo 5.
Monetising it now literally takes nothing away from anyone.
I dont like infinite and its broken so im not gonna play it instead of the game i do enjoy…
No part ofcc is f2p… it requires either a purchase or a subscription…
If you want a free halo for new players go play infinite.
Id rather see the 8 year old game get more support and if they are to do so MS will expect it to be profitable.
Because halo is multimedia fanchise owned by a billion dollar conglomerate who invest in things that profit.
Mcc aint spv3 or halo reborn.
Its a product built to make a return and for it to get continued substantial support it needs to have Monetisation going forward.
It takes away from the people still playing it. Monetizing games with MTX has NEVER helped a SINGLE game retain players or update content, history shows us this.
It takes away from the experience of a VIDEO GAME and replaces it with some kind of botched arcade machine/casino.
Their desire to further monetize 20 year old games is a sign; not a good one.
Monetize within reason. If it wasn’t for us, their monetization would’ve gone even further. They wouldn’t have just stopped at purchasable spartan points.
Ya they may have tried to go further and we could have crossed that bridge when we got to it.
Fact is with the current state of halo as is mtx spartan points was likely the best avenue the community had.
I wasnt gonna pay for cosmetic points anyways so that revenue stream compelling ms to further support mcc was a great deal from my perspective.
