It’s a misconception that in order to play Halo 5 co-op on the couch with a buddy that you need to buy another copy of the game, another gold membership, and another Xbox One. Many of you already know this and know what I’m about to say, but for those who don’t, here’s how it works.
(Only works for digital.) Console sharing. Make sure your main console has your Gold on it and a Silver (free) account too, and make sure this console is “owned” by your Gold (google how). Now if you did like me and took advantage of Black Friday sales and grabbed yourself a new console, then just sign into it with your Gold, but don’t “own” it. Now you can have Gold features, plus Halo 5 on both consoles and your buddy can play on your Silver account on your main Xbox, while you play co-op with him on your new Xbox using your Gold account. Have fun.
NOTE: If you don’t have an extra TV lying around, I’ve seen 55" 4k TVs going for under $500 in my Black Friday ads, not that you would even need that size, but TVs of all kinds seems to be pretty cheap this holiday season.
EDIT: $300 for the 500GB Xbox One and $350 for the 1TB now. I got the Tomb Raider 1TB bundle for $350 that came with an extra free controller at Best Buy.
Well, a lot of people probably don’t want to drop a few hundred bucks on another Xbox One just to play splitscreen…
Oh boy. Here we go.
This is gonna be good.
I bought a new Xbox and another 65 inch tv and put the tv above my current one to get that true split-screen effect. J/k
I guess that’s almost as easy as buying a second controller and connecting it my xbox like I did with my other games…

I actually just did it to have a 1TB drive without the mess of traveling with extra HDs and wires and such, but realized that I can do splitscreen Halo 5 now as a bonus. I would hope that people don’t actually buy another console just for scpitscreen H5, unless they’re just that hard core. lol…

Oh cool because you know, it is totally worth it having to shell out 400 USD for a new CONSOLE just to play with someone else on the same house.
So for something that was included, you have to pay a extra, what? 500 dollars,
no thanks.

Nope $300 for the 500GB and $350 for the 1TB now.
Lol. OP Thinks people want to buy another $300 console just to play one game with other people. When you could just buy Black Ops 3 for $60 and play 4-player splitscreen.

First, he doesn’t expect you to go out and buy a second One.
Second, really? You still play CoD. I’m sorry. Really sorry. I hope you’re doing well.

I’m sorry that you have to insult people’s preference in a video game. Really.
So with your method you just take out the extra copy. I dont see how that makes much of a difference, you still need to buy another console and tv, which are the two most expensive things out of the three.
Game should have included splitscreen but I for one cannot stand splitscreen. So distracting having another perspective to the game going on.
Um, you still need to buy another console and TV. Thats alot of money and I don’t think anyone is going to buy that just so a buddy of theirs can come over to their house and play with them occasionally. Its true you don’t need to buy another copy but that’s the cheap part of split screen. You still need to buy the most expensive parts to make “splitscreen” work and its not really splitscreen anyways because its on two different screens.

really? seriously? you must be being sarcastic!
I only have to buy another xbox for 300 and not the extra 60 bucks for a game? well then what was i waiting for!? what a deal! 350 bucks to get a feature that was available on the xbox OG, thats totally worth it. oh wait, i need another TV. well as long as i don’t have to buy another copy of the game! thank the lord
so you’re saying that instead of buying gold, a new xbox, a new game, and a new tv i just need to buy a new tv and a new xbox for over 600 bucks (at the VERY least) all together. oh wait, only if i have a digital copy? you do realize that there are A LOT of people who bought the physical copy.? Man this is the dumbest post I’ve ever seen. Who would spend that much money to be able to play with their friends at home? 343 has killed playing halo 5 with friends in the same room. so much for that.
what a joke.
Well if we are being technical here, buying another TV and Xbox doesn’t fix the split screen issue. Split screen means on one TV and Xbox. What this idea is technically called LAN
you can play co op without a gold membership
not sure about multiplayer…my 2 week trial ran out a month ago and i can still play lol so theres that
gonna get a new year membership for xmas

i believe some smart tvs can do a picture in a picture that can be resized so its possible to use 1 tv and 2 xboxes
now for frame rate/refresh and networking i am not sure how that will pan out XD
