I was aiming at a standstill and slowly going back and forth with the reticle and when inches away from the edge of the player it snaps to the center.
I have NEVER seen so much aim assist in an Halo or FPS game. And as that other thread mentioned strafing has been rendered nearly inneffective because of it.
I am so disappointed how much the skill gap has been lessend with assist, ordinance, and stickies and camo in loadouts, just to make the game more accessible. Not cool 343. Not cool.
I know what you mean Aim assist needs a huge reduction. I mean even with the sniper I can feel it and because of all of the aim assist on every-gun it basically does the work for you. Like you don’t even need to focus on aiming its more about timing when you shoot now.
Tell me about it… I especially hate it when you’re shooting at a player and someone runs near and it automatically starts to point at the other player.

I’ve turned my Aim-assist off in Game Default in the Dashboard since Reach. It works well for my aiming and straffing and reticle drag, I still have problems with long range DMR opponents, or shortrange Assault rifle autoaim noobs.

You are only fooling yourself, unfortunately. The Halo 4 aim assist function is independent. You can turn that off all you want, but it will not affect Halo 4 gameplay (there are some games that it will affect, but Halo 4 ain’t one of them).
Halo 4 isnt only the Halo with more aim assist. IT IS ALSO THE GAME WITH MORE AIM ASSIST EVER!!!
Im sad 343i hadnt said anything about a general reduction of aim assist, IMO bullet magnetism and aim leading should be scrapped entirely and reticle friction should be reduced to a small fraction. Even my not so experienced friends notice how easy is to pull perfect kills against strafers…one of them started to do with the DMR that after only one week of playing…
With this insane amount of aim assist i can no longer claim that Halo 4 is a pro game, the worst thing is that theres no advantage for players that can aim precisely with the controller with zero aim, i can play games like Fallout New Vegas or Max Payne 3 with all help deactivated, but when i play Halo 4 im just forced to do perfect kills agaisnt inferior dudes (even my casual friends)who can also pull easily perfect kills.

Yes, I hate that too. You fire a few shots into an enemy, about to have the kill shot and your reticle attaches to another enemy as they run past and you only end up with an assist as someone else gets the kill.
Happened to me to,I was in the middle of a killing spree trying to aim at a target when my crosshire swicthed to another target forcing me to loose my kill and begin targeting a totally different foe.
> Strafing makes almost no difference in H4 with the DMR and auto aim. It’s crazy.
This is really true. I think that the only things that make strafing seem effective is the panic that some experience when being shot and the flaws in some players aim.
Now I do think that it kind of matters at mid range, but that is only when scoping in is included, but in the end it does not really matter.
The use of cover, corners’ and grenade throwing is the only thing that really separates the good players from the amazing players, but in this game it is a lot easier for players who are not pros to kill the pros.

the auto aim is ridiculous. we see all these people whinning to nerf the DMR’s range when in reality the weapon is perfect, it just needs less auto aim. instead of giving it a proper fix 343 is just nerfing its range and making it completely useless compared LR and BR. I like the DMR, its my main tool of destruction, i do find it annoying that scrubs have an easier time killing me with it but that is auto aim’s fault, not its range. instead of making it tougher to use (reducing auto aim) to fix the complaints they are just making it a useless weapon, thus reducing what little skill gap we had left.

Hate to be that guy, but that happened to me a while back playing Guardian in Halo 3.
