basically, last year, my dad LEGALLY bought me a copy of HALO CEA a day EARLY from Blockbuster (dont judge me, they still exist you know!)and i played it with an online XBOX LIVE profile and i did not get banned for it luckily (check my achievements for the first one that was unlocked on November 14th 2011), but im gonna ask for HALO 4, basically, my dad is doing this Day 0 purchase thing again and im wondering, is it recommended to use an offline profile this time or can i just use my LIVE profile again? i keep hearing that people managed to get and play REACH online WEEKS before it came out 2 years ago and hear news that some players got CEA days before release, i even checked on various websites with forums and 100% of the time, all instances of this were fully LEGAL and without ban, if i could get an answer from the guys at 343i, i would appreciate it
Just don’t spoil the campaign or I will find you…
Never played a game before release. It’d be cool to do so, though. As long as - not get banned.

and eat your face
I would play the game but only offline profile where no one can see you besides who lives in your house
I have already pre-ordered my copy. So now, its a waiting game.
Sorry, i voted for the wrong one. -1 off no and +1 for didn’t play the game before release
You won’t get banned for having a game a day early.
> You won’t get banned for having a game a day early.
I agree, they wont ban you a day early as its not a good way to earn popularity as people have mixed feelings as it is…
I’ve had:
- Halo Wars
- Gears of War 2
- Gears of War 3
- Fable 2
- Fable 3
- Mass Effect 3
-Halo CEA - Star Wars TFU
All arrive a couple of days, all played them online or while signed into Live and have never been banned or flagged up at all.
If you bought the game legally and it happen to arrive a couple days before it should have, then you’ll be fine. It’s not your fault that the game arrived early so don’t worry about it. Play away if you can!

This ^^
If you purchase a legitimate copy of Halo 4 then you will be fine. I have had almost all of my Xbox games up to a week early. I will hopefully be getting Halo 4 about 5-7 days before release and I have never been banned or anything like that.
Lol at some idiots saying yes because theyre jelly.
You will not get banned if you have a legit copy. Only if its a pirated copy with no stealth files.
Offline or online is the same thing. The console registers the games youve played and the dates on the RAM.
Fact: I bought ODST 1 week early from the store and I didnt get banned.
They have said time and time again that legally purchasing it will not get you banned. Blockbuster could possibly get in trouble, but not you.
Unlikely people will get them early, as it’s international release. However I saw people with Reach over a week early, who apparently got temporarily banned.
@VivaLaJam
How were you able to get it so early???
I was considering on ordering my copy of Halo 4 through the Microsoft site (given that they are providing a $ 25 gift card with purchase) and wondering if anyone has before and received it early.
Or if not through the Microsoft store, then where?
Xbox LIVE can tell the difference between those who downloaded a flashed copy and are using a flashed console and those who are actually using a real disc and bought it legitimately.
You will be fine to play it if you get it early.
Friend of mine played Skyrim a week before release, didnt get banned!
thank Chief for everyone that said that it is OK to play it a day early
Sometimes, the games come a day early for me and it happens on a regular basis. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine.
