Balance the freaking weapons. Half the weapons you pick up still are worthless. Ar is worthless in close quarters combat. Let us mod weapons and customize after all the books have all kinds of weapon enhancements.
I dunno about you, but I find most if not all the weapons in the game to be fairly useful in one way or another…
same here. And he completely lost me when he said the AR was worthless in close quarters… ![]()
Nah almost every weapon is borderline OP in their respective use case.
Most of the weapons are useful / fill their role.
And most importantly they all seem to play nicely in the sandbox.
And with the recent updates - 343 are happy to keep nudging them in the right direction.
The AR shreds at close quarters.
And you can mod weapons (at least combine them) in scripting. So there should be custom game types out there that you are looking for.
I used the AR to get 9 beat down medals in one game earlier - Stance is now mine wahoo!
Bro, like 1/3 of my kills over the last 20 years were melee type kills. I’ve seen unbalanced weapons.
Bungie’s Halo games were dominated by a single weapon meta each. Infinite has some of the most balanced weapons in the franchise. They’re so balanced, they’re virtually sterile and nearly devoid of fun, due to lacking that classic Halo wackiness and chaos. If you can’t kill with these weapons designed specifically for predictable competitive balance, it’s not the weapons that are the problem.
AR is pretty damn good at close to mid range, and 343 dumped way too much time into the BR for HCS. The only weapons that kind of suck are Pulse Carbine, post-nerf Mangler, and Plasma Pistol since they removed the AoE and EMP it always used to have. I have practically no issues with any of the other weapons
You severely under estimate both the Pulse Carbine and Plasma Pistol if you think they actually suck now… Charged shots on the Plasma Pistol are really good now, and 5 single shots will get through shields. Pulse Carbine is extremely useful for stripping shields as well.

Mangler seemingly kills really fast if you land shots, but it’s not hit scan, but projectiles, so there is a bit of a learning curve too it.
in ranked, ive never been killed by an ar at close range that i remember because its not that good. people barely use it at medium range. thats the way it should be though. the op just has an issue with starting weapons. the op just wants to use an actual close range weapon.
I don’t think they’re garbage, I just don’t like them compared to the other weapons, especially on mouse.
TTK seems longer on Pulse Carbine for mouse vs controller, probably due to less head magnetism.
I would rather use Ravager than Plasma Pistol tbh. They’re basically the same weapon, but Ravager is burst fire with AoE and can kill by itself, or nuke the shields of a whole group. Plasma Pistol is even inferior to Halo 5 Plasma Pistol imo.
I dislike post-nerf Mangler specifically because I used it as brass knuckles. The whole gimmick of bladed weapons was increased melee damage, and the global melee nerf completely negated that. 343 even disabled the melee nerf in Ranked because it made BR worse too in Social
I was just saying that the sandbox is so balanced, I barely have anything to complain about, besides personal gripes (including Hammer and Sword sucking in Infinite compared to Reach)
I agree with the pulse carbine. Shockingly strong in its very specific role and harder to duck the shots than it may seem. It just lacks alot of versatility. Ive tried to lead shots with it in close range, but the projectiles are just too slow and inconsistent. And ofc at ranges outside of red reticle its useless.
The plasma pistol just straight up sucks to me. The only time its performs with any consistency is when players are unaware they’re being shot by it. And even then, you’ll need to have it out, have it charged, hope to see someone who doesn’t see you, hope you’re in range, and then only fire at them when they aren’t sprinting in a perpendicular direction. It can be ok in chokes, but its rarely that much better than the pulse carbine in any situation.
One thing I’d like to throw out there is how strong the commando can be with the MKB update. For anyone that’s playing on mouse now and hasn’t already, I recommend giving this weapon another shot. Ive found it can really give you an edge in BR start modes, especially because hardly anyone else really goes for it. The commando can really put in some work on mouse cause you’re not as reliant on AA, particularly once their sheilds are down.
Idk what OP is talking about with the AR. Even after the nerf, it performs its intended role really well, especially as a starting weapon. The sentinel beam just barely outperforms it in many cases. And it can still outgun people who miss a shot or two with the sidekick at close range. Then you have to factor in how much easier it is to use than some other weapons and you can start to understand why its still considered quite strong. Its not just raw damage you need to account for, but also intended range and ease of use.
To me, the weapons are very mixed. Yes the weapons each have their own “role” and some are decent at what they do but you’re never (or very rarely) going to see someone in ranked kill someone with say the lightning handgun (I can’t remember name) or the pulse carbine or something. You just aren’t!! Yeah in social, but not Ranked and there’s a reason for it.
Yeah, they aren’t bad if your in a 1-1 and get the drop on someone, But no decent player that has say a BR will lose to a pulse carbine, they just won’t.
If these kind of weapons were good enough you would see pro players using them way way way way way more!!! And you don’t.
To me, the pulse carbine is pretty useless. I wish we had the carbine from previous games. It was WAY better and useful. The PP is better then it was at launch but it’s still not great… The lightning handgun is very so-so at best. Decent when running with peeps and team shooting. The ravanger is also extremely useless unless it’s a game mode where people are all together. The commando isn’t too bad but I never felt it was a necessary addition at all.
The AR is damn good!!! I don’t understand OP how you can think it’s not!?!?! Very confused how you think otherwise.
I think the lighting grenades are STUPIDITY OP. In general, the lighting weapons have ruined BTB. Vehicles are so easily disabled and destroyed. It was much better when it was stickies, Spartan lasers, rockets, snipers and a charge shot with the plasma pistol.
Now you have all the lightning weapons, rockets, snipers, and just normal gunfire. Vehicles are pretty useless in Halo infinite. I think the most useless of any Halo.
Anyways, just mine and many people I know take
Highly agree with this, i believe the weapons are good at what they do but they’re just really boring to me, especially the banished weapons i forget are supposed to be alien weapons sometimes.
the mangler just feels like a regular revolver with a melee bonus, the skewer is just one shot sniper rifle, and the stalker is just a rifle that overheats, the disrupter’s an electric dart gun, and shock rifle is just a sniper that emps, yeah it’s got arching shots but it seems more effective just to go for the head.
I’ve always used the Commando. It’s a piece of garbage if you hold fire, unless you’re in close range, since the recoil makes it aim up, but if you tap fire, especially while scoped in, it’s surprisingly super good at headshots, and even shooting across the map in BTB
Halo Infinite makes me nostalgic for Halo 4, which says a lot. Everything from the campaign maps, customization, and weapon variety, yeah, Infinite is really lacking in that “Halo” aesthetic, and people didn’t even like Halo 4’s aesthetic. Everything is missing that cool alien feel, none of the armor has lights anymore, none of the explosions are colors besides red, the maps all feel generic fps, the weapons all feel generic fps, the gameplay feels generic fps. If it wasn’t for Master Chief being in it, you could convince me that it’s not even a Halo game.
I generally hate meme’s, but this thread reeks of the meme “Skill Issue” all over it.
I wish they allowed you just to see how much time he invested into even using the weapons at all. I bet a bunch that he claims are garbage would probably say little to almost no use at all.
Well, the service record is there and it’s average.
I’ve learned to not particularly judge service records, unless they play Ranked, since I almost exclusively play Objective modes, BTB, and Fiesta, where idc how often I die, as long as I go positive or our team wins. I’ll bumrush the objective and die a dozen times, but I’ll cap all 3 flags, hold the hills, double/triple juggle stockpile coils, and hog the ball for match VIP every time.
If someone plays Ranked, just judge that exclusively, since that’s the only mode where it matters, and even then, being forced to play Objective modes ruins your K/D, if you don’t want to lose rank for not playing the objective
(I’m not suggesting everyone rushes the objective and only cares about going positive, but most Halo players only care about having fun, not K/D)
