For all those hating the ranking system

You know whats funny? Why even complain about this for rank?

Halo 3 ranks were something you display for skill, Reach it was just to unlock cosmetic armor, and now in 4 everyone is acting like its the end of the world. There a few things these idiots need to realize.

  1. The rank up system INVOLVED GAMEPLAY EFFECTING CONTENT. Imagine in a game like COD, BF, Uncharted, Assassin’s Creed etc. Any game that had gave you the chance to unlock gameplay effecting content like weapons, equipment, and abilities. Go back 5 years to COD4, imagine if for a second you could have gone down in rank and LOSE A WEAPON YOU JUST UNLOCKED BECAUSE YOU LOST A MATCH. Do any you realize just how utterly stupid and broken a system like that would be? Hey I just leveled up to 10 and got my M4, 5 games later I’m back to 8 and lost a create a class slot. That’s the type of stupidity your displaying right now.

Anyone can understand the difference between an unlock system for cosmetic gear and gameplay impacting gear but if anyone ever did something that punished people in terms of player progression to lose content from a weapons sandbox, not only would that distance more people from the game it would create such a disparity that people would be inclined to cheat just to get the better gear.

  1. No one gave a F*** about unlocking stuff in Halo 3 so why are you honestly complaining about having nothing left to unlock in 4? Its amazing how stupid the majority of gamers are when they accept something in one thing and completely bash it on another. There were people who unlocked all armors in Halo 3 in the first month it came out and if they had this mentality back then, they would never have touched the game again. I got most armor in 3 in about 2 weeks, mainly because all those armors in 3 were tied to achievements. So I got every achievement no reason to play the game anymore.

  2. Reach had no point in terms of rank, all you did in reach was earn exp to unlock more armor to make your spartan look as you wanted. Did it really matter so much to people to unlock one piece of virtual armor which did not matter in the least? I used an ODST helm and the most expensive stuff I got was the gold visor and assault/commando chest piece in Reach, I got the armor I wanted and did not care for anything else yet I still played reach because I LIKED THE GAME.

Even COD4 had no reason to prestige, it did nothing but give you a fancy symbol. So what, you unlocked everything, that’s a perfect reason to stop playing the game? If you only play the game to unlock everything then that’s just bad, games have lasting appeal but only as long as you like it. You could keep doing any COD forever now but I could say the same thing, Why Bother? I got everything I don’t want to do it again does that make it so I should just stop playing? If Halo 4 had some kind of re-enlistment mode for 1-50 would you do it? Despite having no purpose? If you answered yes then you don’t even care, just go sell the game.

I’ll hit SR-130 sometime in the future but is that a reason to stop playing? People unlocked stuff in gears 3 in the same way we did in reach, but they still played it. You get stuff at random in TF2 and have no rank but people still play it. hell many people hit the final prestige in COD yet they still play it. So why is it such a crime for Halo 4 to have an end in unlocking stuff? Do you players need to be treated like a little child for doing something special or a dog doing a trick?

If we should just stop playing games because there’s nothing left to unlock, so many other multiplayer games would have died out faster than you could think.

Its simple either keep playing if you like the game or just go back to some other game which keeps giving unlock able stuff because some of you honestly think a game is only good if there exists more stuff to get.

People could show off their forerunner rank all they wanted in reach, but did it mean anything? No it only meant how long you played, that’s it. Even then it had no real purpose, people could grind easy in firefight or infection and still get that rank. Hell you could say Bungie did a devious thing keeping people into the game by making it so long to unlock stuff which made no difference.

Double standards are just excuses for stupidity, if you say one thing is okay and then say the same thing is bad in another, then your setting a role in a gaming community we don’t need. No one needs. COD fans enjoy their game whether they prestige or not so how is it so bad that just because you unlock everything its bad? If you have nothing left yo unlock its like your a drug addict and your just going into withdrawal without your stuff.

So just keep playing if you like the game regardless of its unlockable content or just shut up and go away, if you hit max rank then just leave, the only purpose to not continue is if you make it that way. Everyone wanting a ranking system by skill is getting it in this game too SO JUST SHUT UP AND BE HAPPY ITS COMING, 343 could have left it out but just accept it or go away, if you don’t like the game anymore just remember, YOU BOUGHT IT, 343 HAS YOUR MONEY, THEY HAVE MY MONEY. Nothing we say, think, or do will stop them from making Halo 5. I’m enjoying the content Limited Edition and All, I’m not throwing a fit about stuff left to unlock nor will I demand more content past the map pass. If more comes, then I may get it but I’m not going to be pissed off because I can’t unlock more armor or stuff like that. Play what you want for what reasons you want, just have common sense.

end rant/

I’m not sure if you mentioned this in your rant (I read only a bit of it) but didnt 3 have an overall all rank and a true rank? You get the best of both worlds. My favorite Halo multiplayer, that you could go online with, was Reach (I’m sure I’ll get a lot of flak with that). I got tured of having this high rank in my game and then they frickn suck. I just don’t think it would be that hard to have both ranks again.

I made a thread earlier about how you progress through the ranks too fast but I wasn’t bashing it. I could careless what level I am as I just play for fun.

  1. This would just be stupid and I totally agree.

  2. Back when halo 3 came out no one had the option to customize their character anywhere close to the options they have had in more recent games so no one cared. you cant really use that as a comparison. Now that they’ve had it in reach and other multiplayer games, especially since reach had a lot more, people feel like this halo 4 version is limiting.

  3. Rank is important to some people. To me not being able to rank up isn’t game breaking but at the same times was proud of my rank in halo reach and I liked the progression system. Some people get a sense of accomplishment when they achieve a new level or unlock a new armor or ability so I understand why some people are frustrated that this process is so short.

  4. Like I said, I don’t mind nor will I mind not being able to progress. I play for fun. For some people leveling up is part of the fun and its not your place to tell them they are wrong for feeling that way. Your opinion is exactly that, an OPINION. Get off your high horse and stop -Yoinking!- about people -Yoinking!- just because YOU feel differently.

They will have both ranks in January. I think that’s why it’s so easy to meet the level cap. Once the true skill level comes out people will be able to improve upon that.

You write this big rant -Yoinking!- everyone out and then you don’t even respond to your own thread.

They should have had a separate playlist for ranking just like H3. Halo 3 had it perfect they had a 1-50 ranking system to separate players by skill and they also had a ranking system on the playlists so everybody no matter how good or bad they were could get a 5 star general.

They should have done a playlist that everybody could unlock everything on and this playlist wouldn’t require skill. And they should have had playlists solely for ranking and this playlist wouldn’t unlock anything. I dislike the current system because I never know if I’m playing good people or bad.

Sooo much text. I’m lazy.
