For all of you sprint haters!

I just listened to the latest podcast by 343i about an hour or two ago, and I can happily say to all of you classic players who hated sprint, “I think we have hit the middle ground”. I, for one, am a huge MLG player/ supporter who is a tremendous fan of classic Halo game-play. In this weeks podcast, I heard something that put my soul at ease (a bit).

“Players that are sprinting will be slowed if they are taking damage”

I think this is leaps and bounds better than the system we have currently in Reach. I also believe with all of my heart that 343i will allow for custom games to fully mimic previous titles in such a way that the MLG community will be happy, and the players who just love making weird gametypes will be happy.

What say all of you? Shall we put the torches away when it comes to sprint?

Edit:

Here is the link to the podcast for those of you who have yet to see it.

Yes, that makes me very happy. I never really hated sprint though. Was just slightly annoying.

Ah Blighttown on Dark Souls is the WORST

Pardon?

It’s a start. But sprint doesn’t only effect mid-combat. It also effects stuff like map control and map design, which I think was the worse thing about Reach.

the podcast is already up?

indeed

It’s sad that people think that running away was the only problem with sprint. It affected map control terribly and like you said, made it terrible in Halo:Reach.

YES! IT DOESN’T EVEN MATTER THAT MAP CONTROL IS TOTAL BS ANYMORE! SPRINTERS SLOW DOWN!!!

> YES! IT DOESN’T EVEN MATTER THAT MAP CONTROL IS TOTAL BS ANYMORE! SPRINTERS SLOW DOWN!!!

You’re addressing only one problem at a time and not fully solving it. Map control doesn’t have to be taken head on. There can be paths that are out of the way but give you an advantage. And if someone is able to do that faster it hurts map control ( I know this isn’t the strongest argument, but it’s still a factor.) Also, no one can deny it effects map design.
