footsteps sound whoring

footsteps ruin this game… take away from map awareness and create stale campy gamepla

What the…
How can the sound of footsteps make the game ‘‘campy’’?

Could you please explain this a bit, since i dont fully understand what you are trying to say.

in terms of dubs… you can hold a power weapon and wait until you hear footsteps. it completely ruins having map awareness. All you have to do is listen.

Wha… I don’t even

How exactly?

This isnt Cod. for the first time in halo footsteps are very loud. I dont care that it might be realistic. But in terms of gameplay wise it isnt good and having map awareness was a skillset, now people can just soundwhore and you dont even have to read your opponent. its bad in doubles

> in terms of dubs… you can hold a power weapon and wait until you hear footsteps. it completely ruins having map awareness. All you have to do is listen.

…Ever heard of radar… Instead of listening, you could just… You know, look at that red dot on the blue ball thingy on your HUD…

umm in pro or dubs you dont have radar. In terms of competitive aspect it ruins gameplay

Yep.

being able to read your opponent and knowing where all your opponents where on the map with callouts and help from your teammates…was a skillset! you cant sneak up on anyone, you can hear people through floors and half a mile away…anyone with a headset or half a brain will turn around

OP, what is this? I don’t even…

Footsteps are footsteps. Most players don’t even hear them. Usually because the average player isn’t wearing headphones and is instead seated in a living area surrounded by noisy children.

I dont understand how you guys dont understand. You can hear footsteps in halo 4 very easily… gives away your position

> for the first time in halo footsteps are very loud.

> for the first time in halo

No.

yes, you can hear through floors and half a mile away… which halo had that loud of footsteps.

Reach, and that’s without the sound of your Twinkie-fueled Spartan huffing and puffing after running for 10 feet. Halo 3’s were pretty loud as well depending on the surface.

Not sure about Halo 1 or 2 because I never played online multiplayer on either of them with my Astros.

No you cant hear peoples footsteps in halo 3 unless you literally side to side walking next to someone looking at their feet

This really isn’t a new thing. Footsteps have always been loud in Halo. Now that more and more people are using things like turtle beach headsets you’re just now noticing it. I’ve owned a gaming headset since a little after Halo 3’s launch and I can assure you the footsteps were equally as loud back then. I honestly could even hear when power weapons spawned in on the map back then too; it’s just a part of the game you have to get used to. And to be honest it isn’t a bad thing to have loud footsteps. It’s realistic (they are wearing several tons of armor). Besides, half the time a teammate will spawn in behind me, when I think I’m going lone wolf, and as soon as I turn to see who’s sneaking up on me an opponent flies around a corner and destroys me from the direction I was previously facing. This is where good team communication comes in.

yes in reach, but it wasnt as groundbreaking in terms of gameplay as halo 4’s are

> No you cant hear peoples footsteps in halo 3 unless you literally side to side walking next to someone looking at their feet

Then I’ve been hallucinating in the last few Guardian 1v1s I’ve played in the last 6 months. Pretty accurate hallucinations.

Maybe I just have a sixth sense.

i understand that their are footsteps in halo… but nothing as loud as what it is currently through floors and at such a great distance

Again, then I’ve been hallucinating when I’ve thought I heard very obvious footsteps coming from shotty hall when I’m sitting S3 in Guardian. Must be coincidence that that’s actually where they were at the time.

Looks like I’m gonna be hitting my doctor up for some Haldol.
