Food for thought: "SPORTSMANSHIP"...consider it

After a successful provocative post on “quitting” I thought a very blatant constructive post was due.

We all have made and/or seen posts on farming, quitting, betraying, etc.

Just, for a second, pause, read, think about and comment on this definition:

SPORTING BEHAVIOUR : “fair and generous in one’s behavior or treatment of others, especially in a game or contest.”

my only rule is “if you betray me, I betray you”

You can’t really stop unsportman like behavior. All you can really do is just avoid it. Like avoid COD since their community is terrible.

I prefer indirect betrayal.Hey you just rammed me with a ghost and stole my whispered truth I’m going to EMP your oni scorpion when an enemy is chasing it.

Well if someone is engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct, report them and move on.

Most people nowadays are really angsty and like to say things like “you steal my assassination and i’ll follow you around the entire match taking down your shield”.
Stealing assassinations is unsportsmanlike, so in this case it’s not even a game altering problem, your team still gets the kill. If you were to respond in an unsportsmanlike manner, you’re only aggravating the problem and creating a worse environment for everybody else.

Don’t let one bad apple spoil the bunch, as it were. If you are a victim of such conduct, try to move on and create a more enjoyable experience for everyone else. If there is a case where someone is legitimately griefing or purposely causing your team to lose, then report them and suffer through the whole 10 minutes you have to spend with them, no need to get buttmad and take it out on others. We’re all just here to have fun after all. At least I am.

Take my assassination i will ruin the game for you at every opportunity

I betray them without getting a betrayal (like when they are absolute, I shoulder charge them), makes it even more rewarding. XD

See these are the kinds of angsty teenagers that I was talking about. No semblance of sportsmanship and no ability to move on after something so trivial happens to them. They feel the need to ruin other people’s games just because their meaningless animation was interrupted. Unfortunate really.

Don’t prosperously take my assassination and we won’t have a problem

I can still -Yoink!-, right?

Purposely* and how can you tell they did take it on purpose what if they just have a bad reaction time, I’ve had times where I started lighting up a guy and I almost killed him before I noticed my teammate was assassinating him that whole time. Granted I’ve also been in a situation where someone stood by and waited for my full animation before headshotting the guy and taking it but besides the obvious how would you even tell.

It shouldn’t matter. Can I ask why exactly your 3 second animation is so important? I make an effort not to steal assassinations because people obviously get really buttmad. But I still have yet to find out why. It happens to me too, but I don’t go around screwing with my teammates after. I keep on playing the game like a normal person.

Majority of the time I’m going to try to kill the enemy in an assassination animation. Unless I clearly see that it is a teammate who started it, because most of the time I can’t see which way the assassination was going.

This is actually a problem I’ve had alot too. Most of the time I can’t tell who is assassinating who

Nice guy
This is how I approach sportsmanship. I’m not the guy who’s pov you see. I’m the one who gives back homies sniper. Good deed accomplished:)

Personally, I like to watch them because you don’t get to see them unless it’s in game play. I’ve also had situations that I couldn’t tell who was assassinating who! I just get ready to spartan charge with the smg in hand.

Sportsmanship to me: Respect your opponent and team mates. Don’t do anything to them that you don’t want done to yourself. Play the game to your fullest potential and according to the rules.

Throws the match out the window at every opportunity for something that didn’t hurt the result of the match.
This I consider poor sportsmanship.

I’m of the opinion that like-minded players should play against each other.
Quitters, AFKer etc against each other
Short temper players vs short temper players

It would be nice… but 343 giving everyone a Psychiatric eval would probably be out of the question…lol.
Maybe sorting players by age would help some.

Don’t play halo, and the community at large won’t have a problem. Also, look into getting a dictionary.

Well the first category is very doable I’d say
Second would have to be based on reports from the gamer population though.
Age is also not really a good indication of how someone behave, sadly.

It’s a tough task.
