(Fear of missing out)
If an “item” Is supposed to be hard to get and or limited time availability.
The item should only remain exclusive for 6 months.
EDIT whatever unlocks it originally, will be required to unlock it later. But more time consuming or harder EDIT
So those that earned it first can show it off.
But those who want it later know it will eventually be available… within 6 months to a year.
With unlock methods of similar difficulty or means.

They’ve already alluded to ‘temporal exclusivity’. This is an important concept. The key thing is making that clear upfront when an item first becomes available- the problem is making people think they can only get something one way, they grind for it, then find out they didn’t have to.
The solution is simply to have the messaging there up front.
I disagree. If I put in the work to earn something, the last thing I want is for it to be given out. To hell with your participation trophy, I still hurt from what they did to the people who unlocked Helioskrill.
I disagree with it being widely available. As long as it always remains difficult to unlock i’m fine with it.

Never “given”
Whatever you had to do the first time, they will to.
Or maybe something harder.

Yeah i’m okay with that. I think I misunderstood what you were saying, too. My apologies.
I’d like if it were a Halo 3 Recon situation, where only a select few elites have access to something, but it later becomes available through achievement or challenge to make it difficult to get but not impossible.
And this is why I don’t like timed events unlocks because I don’t want to be forced to play for something within a restricted amount of time and it’s more frustrating if the challenge is difficult.

It’s going to be hard to sell stuff if everyone can get if for free in six months.
There is going to be stuff that is purchase only - and some of it is going to be limited to a certain time frame / sponsor promotion.
But that’s OK as long as there is enough free / grindy stuff to keep everyone busy.
I’m hoping that they’ve been using MCC as a testing ground for Halo Infinite in regards to the Season Pass and Challenges, and if we’re lucky the Exchange will be a good indicator too for missed skins.

I 100% agree. I hate whenever I see a game, find some cool cosmetics that I want, only to learn that they will never be made available again because… is there even a reason? I don’t see what locking seasons and other unlocks does. That’s what I like about MCC, if you weren’t there, you won’t be missing out. Though, for the challenge unlocks in MCC, it’s fine to put them in the Exchange there as they are old games, but for Infinite, as you said they should be either the same unlock requirement or harder.

I agree, but it looks like there is no winning this fight.
“players will also experience limited-time seasonal events with special rewards on the line.”
I disagree. This already happened to me with H3 Recon, H5 Helioskril and I hope it won’t happen with Infinite’s 152 reward. It made me feel like I wasted my time. At the end… What’s the point to grind like hell if everyone else will have it in 6 months? I’m patient, so temporal exclusivity doesn’t convince me.
I think in mcc they have a system where you can unlock limited stuff I forgot what the store thing is called. Definitely would appreciate an effect or exclusive something that denotes that you got it in it’s original run.

The Exchange, it cycles through rewards from previous season challenges that you can’t get any more through the original means - but you can now buy them with Season Points. It wouldn’t surprise me if Infinite does exactly the same, but replace Season Points with cash.
Depends on how its obtainable.
If you earn it by doing something yourself (like beat legendary campaign) then it should only be for the people who completed that feat and not be handed out after some time.
If it is earned by a temporary challenge (like a chistmas special or something) then it should be available some other time or maybe get added to some kind of droptable (if available) or be available in a store (if available).
If it is temporarily sold through microtransactions then it should turn up somewhere in the future again temporarily or permanently.
