FOMO needs to be addressed

I feel the FOMO of weekly and event rewards needs addressing.

We’ve been told that it won’t be a problem but heard nothing regarding how or what.
I’ve not missed a single week of challenges and managed to get each reward so far (touch wood)
But I know I and many others have FOMO, and I don’t feel it’s been discussed enough.

Really?

It’s pretty much been discussed in great detail.

Personally… I think it’s over rated. Everything is coming back at some stage.

We are only in Season 2. There is no reason to believe Season 1 things aren’t going to be recycled at some stage.

The extended seasons are just making it all feel worse. And not just for collectors.

Seriously? Congrats on the dedication, but these weekly rewards are really not worth the FOMO. I could see this being an issue if the rewards were worth chasing after, but they are not. It’s usually some lame visor or a canteen or a generic coating.

Should this be addressed, at some point. Sure. I don’t even think they need to pull people off for their current jobs to add repeated weekly rewards.

Ok

I understand FOMO for experiences - missing your favourite band, not making an event all your friends are going to.

I kind of get it with material possessions - like getting a new console when it first comes out, or something that will improve the quality of your life.

I don’t really get in-game digital stuff - especially when you remember that eventually they’ll shut the servers down and it will be gone anyway. In a couple of years I won’t remember what things I unlocked in Halo 5, you know?

I haven’t missed an event yet either. I didn’t care about the challenges in S1 until near the end, but I’ve got all but two this season (I just couldn’t do the second weeks of LSS). Do I fear missing out? Not in a sense that I care about another visor colour. I have only ever used one core and two coatings. I can barely tell the difference between some of the visors.

But now I have a streak going and I don’t want to break it.

None of this is to say that I like the current model.

Realistic question: It’s cool that you have every reward but have you ever asked yourself if you’re gonna’ use them all?

The FOMO stuff sting extra hard when that is the one and only way to get content without paying.
And stings even harder when 343 promised they “don’t want to weaponise FOMO”, which turned out to just be another lie.

Your posts have been slacking recently, just posting for the sake of it and not actually providing anything meaningful.

Nothing really meaningful to say, so I just acknowledge the topic creators message.

Can’t really read 343i’s mind to answer any questions that’s for sure…

Mr. Toby_JE
I would begin with reason and observation, FOMO is self imposed I believe in this situation. Not trying to be ugly, i’m just saying and trying to help. I know that you haven’t paid over a thousand dollars to collect every store item since launch. So by definition FOMO you already missed out on those items. Unless…they change things up, which I believe that is on the way. That being said don’t stress yourself out trying to do these challenges (unless that is something you enjoy). I promise these weekly items are not important at all. Find the ones you can deem worthy of your time, get those items. Don’t waste your time getting seven different shades of purple and yellow visors like its important. Don’t fall for big corpo schemes to make things seem more important than they are. Keep gettin those weekly items mang Goodluck.

That’s where the fomo gets ya

Gotta get it before you finish that thought or else you might regret it

See that’s why FOMO rarely works on me. I generally know what I want.

They were pretty clear that each reward will only ever come from a single vector/source so I don’t know how they can bring them back and let people get previous capstone/event rewards without going against this.

They can’t rerun a capstone reward because people who already had it would rightly complain about lack of reward that week for them. I’m really not sure how they could bring them back. They certainly can’t put them in the store as, again, it would go against the single vector principle.

This is the reason why I’ve made sure to get all 44 capstone rewards and complete every event pass released to date.

I’ve missed a couple of twitch drops though which is disappointing, they don’t advertise them very well in my opinion.

If I were 343 I would have mini-events. Just over the weekend. Where people could earn missed rewards.

I doubt anyone would get upset over a few days - especially if the event just happened in the background. It would only need to be advertised / shown to those who haven’t finished the list.

They just need a big enough gap so that people who put in the time and effort in the first place don’t feel ripped off. I would think at least 12 months?

You could have an event every month that just offers up half a dozen pieces from previous events.

Yes, I think that’s the only sort of option open to them. Someone suggested something similar before that I agreed with.
