We saw at the end of the game Ander’s got caught by a Guardian. This is big news to Cortana as she had no awareness that anybody was at the Ark. The logical step from here is to interrogate her and try to find it. What if this is how she’s tipped off about the Banished making their move to Zeta and tried to claim the ring for herself.
The question remains: what happened to the ring and Anders?
Would be cool to hear about that in infinite or a hw3 since she did say she would send out a distress signal for the spirit of fire.
Do we know if Anders’ Halo ring is the same one as seen in Halo Infinite?
I’ve been entertaining the fantasy of the Spirit of Fire making an appearance in the game. It’s a complete long-shot, and I won’t be getting my hopes up in the slightest. But MAN that would be some cool continuity, even if Anders makes a small cameo.
So far as I know it would be a no. Still spirit of fire can still make a cameo or be referenced in halo infinite but probably in the later campaigns.
I hope some information is given as-to what the situation was after the Halo Wars 2 ending, Ander’s current location included.

I was always under the assumption that Cortana found the SoF adrift and sent it to the Ark to counter the Banished threat and claim the ring for herself, My theory is that Cortana was going to use this new ring to subjugate the galaxy, and that was going to be the big fight in what would’ve been Halo 6. 343i felt it necessary to give the franchise a soft reboot and that’s what led to Halo Infinite. This new ring is still technically a replacement for Instillation 04 and she still has the index.
Cortana would likely have known people were on the Ark as at least one of the defector Human AIs would have known avout Henry Lamb Research station, and it’s quite likely she’d have gotten Intel about the Banished
No. The ring anders is on was a replacement for the ring that chief destroyed in halo 3. The ring in halo 3 was a replacement for the ring chief destroyed on halo CE known as alpha halo
And the ring chief is on now in halo infinite is known as zeta halo
Which is in fact far older than any of the other 6 rings of the Neoteric array as it was part of the original array of 12. Zeta Halo was almost destroyed like the others, but survived and was altered (presumably hence the reformation towers) to act as one of the new array. The new rings were all built on the (lesser) Ark, whereas Zeta and its original siblings were built at the Greater Ark which was destroyed
