I was hoping it’d give the same effect as having region lock on.

I agree. I think adding these options might make finding matches difficult (I recommend using only expanded. Especially for Warzone).
I tried it right after I update about an hour ago. I found a match within 2 mn and didn’t notice any lag through ou the match it was very smooth… So it’s useful to me.
Thing is if you’re searching for decent connection and there are players out there not worried about connection it should out them on the strict search server?
Well then maybe try the search options that go faster?
I mean…this isn’t rocket science.
Focused is not pointless. I just played 5 or 6 matches with no wait time and my connection in the games was 10x better than it has ever been in arena. Search preferences are the best decision 343 has made for arena.

I just played a large amount of high Onyx/Champion games using focused and there was no wait inbetween matches.
The update has been live for like 3 hours? Give it time. Over half the country (US) is still either at school or work.

I have a Tin ranking and I can’t find matches.

I’m near Seattle and I found a match using “focused” within a minute, no lag, amazing skilled teammates, just AMAZING
It might be due to ranks? I am gold, and have been mainly doing infection with focused, so far it seems to work fine, definitely working as I am having smooth games.
