Flood vs Necromorphs (Dead Space Trilogy)

I’ve been thinking about a lot of "Flood vs " recently. One of the ones sticking out the most to me is what the title says. Both are parasitic, one more than the other. Both raise the dead/living and twist the body to their own means. Both are capable of reducing galaxies to “bone”. Lastly both of them are damn creepy.

I think The Flood would win, yet both of them are very similar. Except in taking over tech, through assimilation. Through The Floods ability to also use tech and twisting the dead/living, I think that’s why they’d win. Also their Trans-Galacitic Form. Your views and thoughts would be nice, as well as other “evenly” matched “Flood vs” ideas.

I’d say Flood.

I’m holding judgement until I see what the Blood Moons are capable of lol.

Pre-Silentium Flood? Not so much.

Silentium Flood? Necromorphs would be virtually extinct.

The Flood consumes all.

The Gravemind is too smart. It even tricked the main characters.

The Flood are just too good at what they too. There was a similar
thread on the Zerg, and the Flood still won.

Yeah…I started that thread awhile back. This just branched off of it…just been thinking of what could take on The Flood and survive. I’m not sure if SCP-682, could survive…maybe…maybe not. It would be interesting.

Necromorphs would get curbstomped.

Anything that isn’t culture levels would be curbstomped by Silentium Flood. Pre Silentium is an endless tie with Flood coming out on top by a bit.

If we wanna look at this through a more specific view, I feel itd be MUCH closer than what people think.

If we were to pit a standard human form of both parasites against each other, there are several things that could come to play.

-Necros:
> bladed arms
> extremely fast
> good at hiding
> able to be severely dismembered (no specific weak points)

-Flood:
> usually a single deadly claw/lashing apendage
> extreme jump/hitting strength
> major weak point if infection pod is ruptured
> bullet sponge

So both have their own unique advantages and disadvantages, in the case of a 1v1 I really feel it could go either way if they are both unarmed

forgive me as i have not read that yet, could you elaborate please?

Without spoiling anything let’s say it like this:

Imagine the horrific worst the Flood can possibly get in terms of infection, yet keep the intelligence of the Gravemind…

Okay, now that that’s in your brain, multiply it by one million.

Have you ever heard of HP Lovecraft? If you haven’t, here’s a history lesson: he was the creator of the Cosmic Horror genre, a genre of stories so nihilistic and so hopeless, that the very universe itself was a malignant entity, and any degree of hope or happiness was merely an illusion born of ignorance. For a human mind to even glimpse the inner secrets of the universe and the dark forces at work there would tend to render all but the strongest willed insane, blabbering vegetables. Lovecraft is the creator of the Cthulu Mythos and the father of all forms of proceeding eldritch abominations since then, and was a direct inspiration for Warhammer 40K.

Lovecraft’s personal inspiration was his own night terrors as a child, which are basically super-nightmares, and all the twisted things he saw in them. The Flood, as of Silentium, has transcended a mere parasite and become a dark force of the very universe, the antithesis of life itself; their mere presence in the same star system can send a latent psychic signal to your brain, causing you feelings of fear. The stated purpose of the Flood? To ensure nothing is ever happy, to ensure that all life in the universe is in constant suffering, misery, pain and death. The Flood isn’t a parasite, it is literally Hell.

Silentium Flood can

-casually destroy planets and star systems
-infect any a.i. that comes within range
-shut down weapons, shields and engines of forerunner ships
-mentally corrupt living minds
-instantly teleport star system sized unbreakable stands and fleets via neural physics transit.
-Infest planets within a few hours

They had enough star roads to to encase the entirety of the Greater Ark, which was at least 300,000 kilometers wide, in a semi solid sphere with a radius of initially 3 million kilometers, and then 1 million, before crushing the entire installation.

They could also move these things around at 2/3 light speed.

You know of the SCP Foundation as well? If so, awesome! I do not know if SCP-682 would either destroy the infection form or evolve an immunity if possible. I would be terrified if SCP-096 or SCP-106 could be infected as well. 096 reaching the ends of the Earth to hunt you down at amazing speeds if you see his face. 106 being able to pass through solid matter and able to enter his pocket dimension. Imagine if the Flood were able to obtain those abilities…

OT, I think it is hard to say who would win. My concern is the Moons. Would they be able to corrupt the Graveminds and Keyminds, or would it be the other way around? How would the Flood react in the presence of a Marker? Would Flood be able to infect Necromorph corpses, or would their DNA prevent this or damage the infection form?

The Gravemind is a single Precursor intelligence that spans the entire Flood collective. It survived 10 million years in isolation, was then forced to live out a billion years until its body reached entropy. Upon which, it returned and assumed total control of the over 500 million worlds worth of biomass commanded by the Flood.

thanks for the explanation guys!

after hearing that…wow.

flood is pretty BA

I’d be happy if there was a mod in any RTS games that has modded in Flood and Necromorphs that have LORE stats from the games. THEN we can duke them out, using entire galaxy as a battleground. See who wins. AND THEN we can prove to Dead Space fans that the Flood is superior to Necromorphs.

Don’t forget to add that they used SPOILER tech.

I honestly think it would come up to which infection was stronger at infecting the other. After that… nothing really matters.

> I honestly think it would come up to which infection was stronger at infecting the other. After that… nothing really matters.

Necromorphs can only infect corpses. Hence, neco-dead morph-chance. The Flood super cell is alive. Its like an infectious neuron that can replace any cell that gets destroyed. The Flood will essentially be immune to the necromorphs.

And the combined intelligence of trillions of individuals is going to laugh at the markers.
