I’ve got to ask this question. I’ve been seeing a lot of people say that they’d rather have Infection over Flood. Now, can someone please explain to me what makes Infection so different from Flood?
Because the only things I can think of are Custom Game options that aren’t available, such as:
Can’t change the Flood’s weapon/AAs
Can’t give the Flood Sprint.
If those are the reason, then that’s the Custom Game options’ fault. Not Flood’s fault.
I’ve also heard its the lunge range’s fault, but I’m not going to go in depth about it since that topic has mixed feelings from both POVs.
Now, I did just watch a modded video where the Flood don’t get the Flood skin. And the commentator was happy about it because it was ugly and the HUD was annoying.
I mean, when Halo 3 came out, and Infection was first introduced as an official gametype, people begged for Bungie to make the infected as Flood Combat Forms. 5 years later, a brand new game company finally gives us what we’ve been asking for, and people complain about it? What?
So, please explain to me why you like Infection more than Flood. Because what I see is “I love Infection, but hate Infection”. I’d like to understand this logic.
I love Flood mode. I love that they made the infected actual Flood Combat Forms. I love the lunge increase. Sure, the Custom Game options kinda suck, but I’m sure that’ll be fixed eventually. Are you agreeing on that, and that you actually meant you like Flood?
Or are you agreeing about what I asked that are the reasons for not liking Flood?
Well, as you said, the lack of options in Customs annoys people. But it’s not really the player skin that’s so bad. In fact, that’s pretty cool. It’s the extended range and the Super Thruster that are messing it up. Also, many people dislike the shielded Flood, and prefer one-shot Pistol kills. All they need to do to fix Flood is… …give more Custom options. …reduce the Flood’s range. …take away the Armor Abilities. …increase the Flood’s base speed. …remove the Flood’s shields. That is all. Which, quite frankly, is very easy to do. I’m sure 343 will address the issue before Summer is over.
For me flood is more like hide and seek, which was one of my favorite gametypes in Halo 3. My problem with Flood is the model its disgusting I prefer spartans, and how there isnt much to do either die from thrusters even though you got a bull true or hide and wait to be last (hide and seek). I miss the infection games from halo 3 and the custom game ones players made like (fatboy) - where there was 1 zombie but he was invincible and really slow and who ever they killed became fast and agile zombies thar were one hit, (miner maze) - where there were 2 to 3 zombies that had normal shields and were slightly faster than humans and the humans had to hit barricades use gravity lift and other things to get through the area there weapon was shotguns. and (duckhunt) - where the zombie is in a tower with a sniper and the humans were one hit and in order to win either the zombie killed all humans or the humans use cover to there advantage and move through the course to get the power up and become strong enough to kill the zombie. Sorry for my grammar/english I really miss the older times in Halo 3.
Flood would be a great gametype if they changed the following things
*Lag- I mean when I shoot a flood, and they don’t die till a full second later and you get infected because of it, its annoying. Especially when it happens every second game…
*Thruster pack lunge- Both feet HAVE to be on the floor before you can lunger after TPing. Regen field has the limitation that both feet need to be on the floor, easy enough to do this for TP…
*Individual colours- Lime green is a horrible colour, the end. At least change it to something else that isn’t so ugly looking…
*Last man gets an overshield- Like in Reach, you could survive a slash, but not two. Seemes a fair reward for surviving long enough, especially since every flood and their momma is heading your way…
*Flood victory commendation- This annoys me most. It’s a free for all game, and as Halo 3 and Reach worked, you placed in the top 50% and it was a win. I never liked the top half part, I always thought that the top 2 was a bit better, and thats my proposal.
Any players that finish in the top 2 in a flood game get a point towards the commendation. Still competetive, but not so harsh if you get BS in a game!
And make ties count as well, I’ve lost about 20 game where I’ve tied, but yet apparently placed first according to the scoreboards after game…
*Camo lock on- Needs fixing urgently. If you have near invisibility, then why do I have to be in their face before I lock on? (Assuming I didn’t get shottied before that) I don’t mind people camoing in Flood, just make the RRR the same if you are looking directly at them!
I always wanted a Flood mode where you could play as the flood, although this is the case in Halo 4, they arnt the Flood, they are just Spartans with a new skin on them to make them look infected, I want to be able to play as Halo 3 flood, Like the Mutant forms, Carrier forms, popcorn flood and regular infected, its a shame these arnt included, they would make the game so much fun
I’ve never seen anyone complain about the Flood models before - the person on that video surprises me.
How can you not like the new model - it’s awesome!
For me, the mode is not as enjoyable as Infection because they’ve actually made it more balanced and fair for the Flood!!!
I know that sounds stupid!!! However, I always found Infection enjoyable because of the occasional game where you could get a spree of 15-20 kills as a survivor - it was a lot of fun!
Sure, it sucked when you were infected (especially 3 rounds in a row) but you still played the playlist because you knew every few games or so you’d get an amazing spree!
That’s why infection was fun for me anyway.
The people who posted on these forums about why the infected needed a buff to make it more fair on them got what they wanted with this Flood gametype. But for some reason it’s nowhere near as popular as infection was.
The flood models aren’t half bad, and I’m not opposed to it as a game type.
But:
-It would be nice for them to be able to be set with other weapons aside from a claw. Maybe have a different flood model for flood with and without a claw. This would also be good because they could use different weapons in custom games.
-The “claw” range is a kind of ridiculous compared to a sword.
-Flood thruster pack is a bit to much of a rocket booster.
-Why can’t the flood have an evade-like maneuver? (just mentioning I miss it, no need to worry. I enjoyed Halo 3 infection just as much).
-Shields? I can understand maybe having 1/2 shields for the alpha floods, but all of them? What’s the point of spawning with a pistol then aside from declaring to the world that your shotgun ran out of ammo?
-It was nice to be your personal colors when you weren’t infected in the other games. This neon-snot color isn’t exactly something I enjoy. (Once again, personal opinion)
All the community really asked for was the infection game type to be made a bit more official and as a real game mode. we didn’t ask for an infection or flood character model but it always nice to have extras. However I wouldn’t call this what we wanted though because every custom game of infection on halo’s reach and lower isn’t close to the one on halo 4 so i don’t no how they came to create this.
If i asked for a strawberry lolly and u got me a cola one i still got a lolly but it wasn’t what i wanted this is the point most of us are trying to make. i do like the food tho but it just inst infection.

what is the point in last man standing now you took away all the human perks & infected downfalls (no shields ect.) why is that still there because when you’re last man standing you have no perks, how are you sopost to try fight an army of flood? how does the flood manage to kill you and you kill it? there just a couple of annoyances the mode has and what makes it harder is the flood with the OP Armor ability so when there is more then one its nearly impossible to kill them all.
If you just play reach and play on the infected game mode on there you’ll understand what im talking about.
It’s either the lack of custom options or because they miss kill farming. Everything in flood mode has a lore based reason AND it makes the ground even. About the only thing besides custom options i miss is having my own colors.

there are headshots. after you deplete the shield.

So you want to make Flood just a copy and paste job of Brains with a new coat of paint?
