This was your chance, 343. This was your chance to throw the customs community a bone and explain some features of your new gametype, possibly the most commonly played custom gametype in the Halo series. Would it have killed you to post if all the new changes were customizable? Would it have really taken so much time to clarify if we can turn off Flood models, or if we can even customize their loadouts?
These are simple questions with simple answers, and yet you didn’t even bother. I’m pretty much convinced that you guys are the same as Bungie in regards to custom gamers… You don’t even know we exist.
> Really? Just because they didn’t detail the custom options for Flood, they don’t care about the Custom Game community? Please.
Yes, actually.
There hasn’t been a PEEP about custom options since we’ve heard about Halo 4. They had their chance this week with Flood. It’s THE custom game! But nope… Nothing. No explanation on their “enhanced” AAs, or how the flood react “differently” to bullets, or any word at all if all these changes can be turned off so we can use Infection for a different style of game.

We also still don’t know about the ranking system for competitive players, Forge, two more multiplayer maps and flying vehicles.

So because they haven’t said anything yet means they won’t say anything and thus hate you? Ever stop to think they may be planning a Custom game setting blow out? Maybe that will happen, maybe it won’t. But them being quiet doesn’t mean they hate you guys or feel that you are scum, they just don’t think is the right time.
I felt the same way with campaign details months ago and it took time, but I got what I wanted.
> Well. That was their last chance.

“Customizable”
That can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. For all we know, all “customizable” means to 343 is being able to change which weapons the survivors spawn with, and well not much else because Flood is a zombies mode and nothing else. Right guys?
I’m not saying that’s how it is, but they haven’t given me any indication to believe otherwise, especially when they present their information like they just did with no real details on said “customization”.
I really doubt that 343 would make it so the flood couldn’t hold weapons and have customisable attributes, it would be insane to remove those features.
I’m sure they know that would be taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

So jumping to conclusions and feeling some personal attack from them is the logical leap to make?
343 gives us something we have asked for since Halo 2 and 3.
“COMPLAIN BECAUSE ITS NOT UP TO MY STANDARDS.”
Come on man, chill. You sound like a spoiled little kid who got the white ipod instead of the black one. They havent discussed custom games that much yet “OH SWEET JESUS CUSTOM GAMES ARENT IN HALO 4 NOW!”
TG I love your maps and ideas, but seriously bro. Seriously.

The difference is, you know those details are coming. You will know, prior to release, the details on these features and whether or not it will impact your buying decision. Since when has either Bungie or 343 ever released any details about custom options? Ever?
As I said before, this was 343s chance to show the Customs community that they at least knew of our existence and cared about us. The way the Bulletin was worded makes me think otherwise. Even a simple “Oh, and everything you see here can be modified or even turned off for you Custom Gamers out there.” would have been enough.

I doubt that. You act as if 343i is sitting in a darkly lit room with evil smiles on their faces talking about how they hate the custom game folks.
Your just jumping to conclusions and taking this WAY too personally.

Actually, yes, it would have been enough. It would have been enough to know that they hadn’t pulled a Bungie and hard-coded in all this stuff so that it severely limits what we can do with the gametype.
Edit:
Also, never attribute to malice what can be explained through simple ignorance. If 343 hard-coded all these Flood attributes into the gametype, it’s not because they said “Let’s intentionally screw over custom games! Muahahaha!”. It’s because they don’t understand how custom game creators use these gametypes, and that’s not something I’d expect them to understand if someone didn’t tell them.
Custom gamers are a very small community. Our way of play is pretty much dead in Reach, and it’s very difficult for a non-Custom gamer to understand why we do what we do and why we need things to be a certain way in the custom options. I have no idea if 343 thinks like we do, because again they haven’t given us any details.
It’s disheartening that when they have the opportunity to do so, they do not.

Yes its just a conspiricy to all custom gamers everywhere.
I love custom games as much as the next guy, but come on man. We get to play as flood. Is that not good enough for you? I understand you I d like to see custom options for flood too, but they said it was the predecesor of infection. Im pretty sure we are going to be able to customize the flood traits.

> Geez, so nit-picky.
I’ll give you a great example of assuming too much and getting burned when the game was released:
Invasion.
Assuming that Invasion would have a high level of customization was a huge mistake. What we expected was full individual team traits, probably down to turning off the Elites vs Spartans aspect as well. If not that, then at least being able to modify the Elite’s traits. Whelp, that didn’t work out. At all.
What we got was Elites that were hard-coded to scale above Spartans a little in speed and health. There was no room for any customization in the gametype except “Make a different version of Invasion with bombs and flags and capture points”. Bungie did exactly what I hope 343 is not doing with Flood and other gametypes: Thinking that the playerbase will only want to edit the most basic of options within the original gametype’s scope.
Because let me assure you… That is NOT what we want.
im pretty sure that in this video he says that by making “the flood” its own true gametype they made it easier for people to modify the settings and to make their own modes around it.
just because he does not go into detail means you have to get all butt hurt about it and say that the company or game sucks.
Halo 4 Flood Multiplayer Mode Walkthrough @2:58
“We have full customization that’s independent of everything else. When you’re customizing or we’re tuning the hoppers all the armor abilities can be tuned differently.”
