The new Flood Mode is terrible. I was so excited to play it because I thought it would be like Reach’s Infection (which I loved) but instead it is a very flawed mode that relies more on luck than anything. You barely last a minute because of the thruster pack. The Flood can also lunge at you at an exceedingly long distance away, so that combined with the thruster pack = no chance of survival. It is frustrating, and for those who say “don’t like it? go play Reach.” well I don’t want to play Reach, I want to be able to play my favorite game mode on Halo 4. Also, the pistol takes AT LEAST a full clip to kill one person. Headshots should at least be a 1 shot kill. Flood shouldn’t have a shield. At least add the normal infection mode and have both modes available to play.
You can actually survive for quite awhile if you don’t go near your teammates. I’ve realized this. I do think Flood needs some altering, but it’s not terrible. It’s just not as enjoyable as Reach.

“Reach infection(which i loved)”
AHAHAHAH
> At least add the normal infection mode and have both modes available to play.
I agree 100% with this.

What is funny about that? Reach had a superior infection gametype by far.
Usually, I have no problem surviving a round, or at least getting Last Man Standing. And that’s without sitting out of reach or in some distant corner at the end of a long hallway.
I will agree with you that there are flaws to Flood mode, but I think the Thruster Packs and AA choices add variety to both sides.
And, yes, one of the biggest things that threw me off was that the pistol is pretty much useless on most maps.
The lag is what pisses me off about it the most. Even the kill cam shows me not getting hit but still dying.
They also need to take out active camo. You can’t lunge at a person if they’re invis
I dont argee with you, i believe that it is fairly fair, and fun, no offence but i believe you just suck at flood, heres a tip, dont stand with your back agaisnt the wall, they thrust in and hit the wall and stop next to you, if you have open space behind you they will fly farther than they wanted to go, trust me it works, you have to stand in a place where its about 40% open space and 60% wall, if you do that then you will kill a lot more flood.
Now i do agree on this topic, because the flood cant carry any weapons and because of that, ALMOST EVERY CUSTOM GAME IS DEAD NOW!!! You cant play janga, you cant play fat man, you cant play duck hunt, you cant play any game type where the infected have to drive or use something other than a sword, NOW that threw me over the Edge, this is a Message to 343i if they read these forums, which i hope they do, GIVE US AN INFECTION GAMETYPE, AND SAVE ALMOST EVERY SINGLE FUN CUSTOM GAME THERE IS!!!
I really love Flood mode, it’s great how the game isn’t a mindless zombie massacre where anybody who’s infected will get killed 30 times without a minimal chance of getting to the humans. Remember how it felt to play as a zombie in Reach’s Infection mode? It was rather frustrating, wasn’t it?
In Flood mode, humans can still survive for a nice amount of time if they’re smart and know what they’re doing. However, Flood players can also do some nice damage as well if they’re smart. If either party is careless, they get destroyed. I like how Flood requires more smart play to survive and win rather than just sticking yourself on top of a tower and pulling the trigger at anything that moves.
Make the pistol a 2 or three shot kill nd get rid of the green/yellow and let us use our regulor colors or add both infection and flood to matchmaking. I’m on mobile right now so could someone make a thread requesting that they add infection to matchmaking along with flood?
I do agree on the part where you get killed alot if you were a zombie, but to me that’s where the skill comes in like using sneaky tactics and such.

Don’t see how that’s funny.
But thanks to everyone giving their opinions and stuff and not hating on the thread, everyone has different opinions
You’ve got to be a complete nub to have thought the Reach infection mode was in anyway good. It was horribly unbalanced against the zombies (one shot pistol kill wtf) and was just a haven for plays too bad to play in normal gametypes to cultivate their k/d/. It was just sad.
Flood mode has evened it out so the flood actually have a chance. That said its still very easy for the humans to take a lot of kills and if you’re finding you cant survive for very long maybe its time to start playing a different game.
I haven’t had this problem in Flood. In fact more than a few of my matches have comprised of all the survivors keeping one area covered and massacring all the incoming Flood with magnum fire.
Although, I would like to see the Flood’s armor abilities replaced by a ridiculously fast sprint ability.
So what you’re saying is:
Infection = Surviving forever as a Human with the Zombies having no chance to kill
Flood = Game is actually more fair
Am I right?
Yes, Thruster Pack can make the game more tough, but for me personally, not at all overall.
The Pistol becomes a bit useless because of both Thruster Pack and Shields, but can be used more wisely if you can use it well, instead of blind sniping.
As for Thruster Pack? Same as Reach’s Evade. You need to be in areas where their Thrusters won’t help them at all, thus forcing them to not be able to use it, or if they do, they fly right into your Shotgun.
I’m loving Flood Mode, and it’s much more fair than Halo 3’s and Reach’s Infection could ever be.
However, should this be the only gametype? Of course not. Here’s two that could be made from the starting gametype and make it more fun/enjoyable. Don’t change anything for these two gametypes except for these specific changes for each:
Gametype 1) Flood do not get Thruster Pack
Gametype 2) Flood do not get Shields
That should make it more fun/enjoyable for players that are still stuck in Reach’s unfair gameplay (but these wouldn’t be terribly unfair, but still not the original).

What sneaky tactics? How exactly, in Reach, do you sneak around on maps like Powerhouse when the entire human team is sitting on the rock wall looking at every possible vantage point? That same problem hurts Infection on every other map too.
Flood, at its basic setting, is vastly superior to Infection at its basic setting. I wish there were more custom options for Flood though.

the humans still get overpowered. It may take a while, but it will happen.

I loved Reach’s infection mode because it was fun. It had nothing to do with K/D and crap like that because only no lifes would care THAT much about a stupid game. I want to play Flood mode with you so you can prove to me that it is easy to get kills. My GT is my username, add me because I gotta see this.

Had the same issue I shot a guy probably 5 feet away dead on with the scattershot and he survives and kills me? how?.
