I’m tired of seeing a lot of topics complaining about Flood Mode never allowing you to change the Flood’s Claw to something else so you can have Duck Hunt, or Cops 'n Robbers, or Fat Kid, or etc…, so I’m here to explain why those are still possible.
First off, if anyone’s seen Halo 4’s Flood Mode, you can clearly see the Flood spawn with an Energy Sword skin, or the Flood Claw. Many people assume, for some reason, because of this you can never change the Flood Claw to something else, like a Sniper Rifle.
Secondly:
> Flood is the spiritual successor to Infection, a fan-favorite game type from Halo 3 and Reach.
If it’s a successor, then why in the world make Customs limited for it? This is Halo, after all, where Customs allow much customization. You really believe 343i will limit customization in a huge gametype like this?
Next, Bungie explains Safe Havens for Reach’s Infection:
Bungie Weekly Update 6.11.10
Shiska explains Safe Havens:
> Safe Havens’ is a new mode for Infection that takes your classic Zombie-killin’ experience and gives it a King of the Hill-esque twist. In Havens, survivors are fragile and prone to being eaten. Survivors do little damage and can be killed in one hit. Unless, that is, they are standing in the Safe Haven. Once inside the Haven, Survivors turn immortal, and can kill zombies with one shot.
>
> The catch? Once a Survivor steps into a Haven, a fifteen second timer is triggered and cannot be stopped. When the timer is up, the Haven moves to a random location, leaving everyone inside it mortal and vulnerable. As survivors, your goal is to move from Haven to Haven while avoiding the ever-increasing Zombie Horde, and scoring as many kills as you can along the way. It’s worth pointing out that the zombies aren’t your Romero-style knuckle draggers, either. Reach zombies are undead acrobats and all that tumbling has worked up a hunger for brains. Expect to be sprinting a lot.
According to everyone that believes Flood Mode will have the Flood only be able to use the Flood Claw:
- Survivors will be killed in one hit outside of the Safe Haven. You can never, ever change this in Customs.
- Survivors are immortal, and will always kill Zombies with one shot, while in the Safe Havens. You can never, ever change this in Customs.
- The Safe Haven’s timer is always 15 seconds. You can never, ever change this in Customs.
You can never, ever change these in Customs because apparently, Bungie secretly said you can’t. Which is clearly false in Reach, because every single one of these can be changed in Customs. Why are these suddenly different for Halo 4?
Also, Halo 3’s and Reach’s Infection has always had Zombies with Energy Swords. By Default. By Matchmaking. Why is this suddenly different for Halo 4?
Clearly, Halo 4’s Flood Mode will allow you to change the Flood’s Claw to something else, like a Sniper Rifle. Meaning Duck Hunt, Cops 'n Robbers, Fat Kid, etc… will be completely possible.
