flood mode critiques

i’m too lazy to search the forums for any other thread mention of this so here it is

when flood mode was announced i was very excited. in Reach i loved alpha zombies and infection. then i get halo 4, i pounce on flood and what do i see? a disgrace!

but lets start with the good things before i go off the handle here.

the evolution from zombies in reach to flood in halo 4 was brilliant. whoever implemented that idea needs a raise. actually wait that’s about all the good things i can say.

here’s what’s wrong with flood mode:

  1. the flood have shields thus taking away my favorite aspect of zombie/flood: the headshot. why would you take this away from us? instead up their damage resistance so the pistol has to have head shots to be useful.

  2. armor abilities in flood mode. no! this is clear cut sword vs shotgun/pistol game mode. it doesnt need AAs at all for either side. which brings me to number three.

  3. flood can’t run. HUH? this needs to be styled the way alpha zombies was in Reach.

So in closing, no flood shields, no AAs and let them run loose. In your pursuit of originality you butchered an already perfect game mode

Infection was far from perfect. I see your trying to call flood original but your asking for aspects that would make it infection all over again.

  1. you can still headshot. the Flood have shields because they are infected spartans. It doesn’t take anything away from combat. The only people that get screwed up are people that try to treat flood like alpha zombies thinking they can get easy headshots like you could in alpha zombies.

  2. AA’s are used by the flood to give it more of a flood feel. Flood has mad hops=thruster pack Flood know where you are almost all the time=pro vision flood are sneaky and actually did have AC in halo 2=AC

  3. sprint+ there already increased movement speed and increased lunge range would make the OP.

And before you say “hur der story/cannocal logic doesn’t matter in MP” Normally i would agree. But 343 really tried to push for having everything tied in with eachother. YOUR spartan trains in wargames and is used in an actual story VIA spartan ops and infinity is in the halo 4 campaign.

The problem with people like you who don’t like flood is your trying to treat it like its zombies when its not. Its flood.

Everything the flood has and what they do ties directly into an actual story reason to make the flood more flood like.

I LOVED infection. And flood blows infection out of the water. By far my favorite gametype in halo 4.

I wish they would have just left well enough alone. The infection in Halo 3 was awesome! I don’t know why they had to stick their hands in the computer and rip out all the wires! Oh the humanity.

I agree with points 2 and 3, although the person above me raises a good point, I feel like AAs should be excluded. Thruster Pack is the only useful one, and even that is ridiculous to defend against.

As for point 1, shudders in remembrance of Pinnacle in Reach

Not gonna lie, I totaly forgot that playlist exsited.

Giving the flood shields was the best thing they did for infection. Being a zombie in Reach made you wanna just rage quit or wait until the next round where you hope you are a human so you can one shot zombies all day…

The pistol can shoot across the map. That’s why it’s useful, you sacrifice raw power for the ability to damage the flood way outside of their range. It’s called making the game more balanced. Being able to insta-kill flood anywhere on the map isn’t balance, a team of good and coordinated players would absolutely destroy the flood.

Humans are already at an advantage, people just have always sucked at the gametype. Humans don’t need everything handed to them, flood is more balanced than infection in many aspects.

More depth isn’t a bad thing.

Agreed. The move speed seems a bit sluggish.
