In Halo: Reach, I always loved to take a break from all the DMR spam and play some infection. I would also sometimes be a noob betraying people with a shotgun for some Lols. And I would actually sometimes use it tactically by betraying someone who was about to die from a zombie! The gametype was the perfect balance because zombies can get one shot by the magnum. Makes sense because it compensates the speed of the zombie. If they were too close, Oh Man prepare for my shotty goodness. The only thing I hated though, is the “BullTru” glitch. You get the shotgun kill but they still manage to kill you anyway.
For Halo 4’s version of “infection”, I would love the same feel as I did for Halo Reach. But I just can’t enjoy it anymore. The Flood’s thruster pack is way too OP, the lunge is far long, the slashing is glitched and it is too -Yoink!- fast! What I mean about “the slashing is glitched”, in the kill cams (I know about the latency issue, but this is different) the player would not even be aiming at me but some how the game detects that he’s “aiming” at me and gets the kill with the super far speed lunge. Even I experienced this my self. I do also get some really cheap flood kills and i feel bad for the player. I always think he;s raging. All of that and what Spartans get? Super weak shotty and 3 shot magnum with limited ammo.
All I ask for is get Halo Reach’s Infection and just add the flood character skin on zombies and you are done.
I am mad that the round timer is 3 minutes. This was a dumb idea. I think 4 minutes would have been perfect. 3 minutes is to short. The game just starts to get good around the 3 minute mark. Who ever messed up all the custom game options and set up the MM flood options should be fired. They don’t know what the heck they are doing.
No it’s not a glitch. Its just a latency effect. You both killed eachother.
One thing people don’t seem to consider is communication. I’ve played a match where we lasted to close to the end. The shotgun is deadly. It isn’t weak. Gotten several multikills with it. The reason why lunge is so big is because the flood have faster maneuverability and gravity doesn’t affect them as much. Not to mention the pistol is highly effect in keeping your distance.
Perhaps fixing the scoring but the spartans can survive if people work together but ALAS like most it doesn’t. So therefore, your complaints fall on the community rather than the gametype.

I can’t even kill a zombie without the flood blasting 500 mph with thruster pack then magically lunging at me with perfect distance while my shotgun has slow firerate and needs to be kissing distance to kill. The only time I can get one is if im next with people and i somehow got the kill while everybody shooting at a flood or the guy just plain suck and misses the easiest lunge attack ever and I get a kissing distance kill.
There’s a lot of things wrong with Flood. Too random, too unpredictable, and that’s a real step back considering what a tight experience Reach’s Infection mode was.
Halo 4 has done a lot of things right but in my opinion every thing about Flood is a bungle or a screw-up or a step backwards. The new Flood model? Stupid looking. The forced Survivor colors? Garish. The weapons are ineffective, the armor abilities are unbalanced. It’s just not much fun to play. Of all the game modes, Flood needs to be first in line to be either fixed or removed.

I’m not actually sure why people betray others in flood.
Mathmatically you’ll gain more points killing flood. So to stay alive to get more kills, work with your team mates. Floods have a finite number of points they can gain, Spartans as well, but theirs is much higher.

Halo Reach’s shotgun is the best one IMO. You don’t need to be super close to get the kill. You only need about 2-3 pumps if the guy like 10m away from you (So this makes the DMR not the dominate weapon in CQ) You only need 1 pump if the guy was right at your lips (lol). It was good balanced weapon. Here? The rate of fire is slower and by the time you shoot another one, the flood already got you with the slash.
About the betraying in Halo Reach, like I said, infection suppose to be a relax and fun game type. I did some “-Yoink-” things, but all in honesty the next round will just start again and people will forget about it.

I did play some Reach infection earlier today. It felt so different after paling halo 4 for 2 weeks straight.

I was playing a custom local game with a guest controller so I could get a closer look at the Flood without being killed and I accidentally hit the trigger and killed my guest.
The messed up part is I wasn’t even looking at him, I was looking DOWN and to the left of them. Their feet weren’t even on my screen at the time yet somehow I lunged forward and killed them.

The thruster kills it for me just let the flood run they don’t need AAs in this game type not even the pertains do. Just take thrusters out and I’d be happy.
I kinda like the somewhat overpowered Thruster ability though. I mean I wouldn’t be too bothered if it was nerfed a LITTLE bit, but otherwise I’m kinda glad that it’s more hectic like that.
I never really played Infection myself in Reach other than in Custom Games so I can’t really comment there, but in Custom games I felt the Zombies were at a bit too much of a disadvantage. So I am still slightly for them being improved here. That’s as far as I can comment really.
But I would also add that I really think 343 should have still retained the original “infection” game type nonetheless. Maybe have it as a voting option in matchmaking as an alternative or for those that would prefer that for custom games.
Yeah thruster kills it. If the kids who created Infection in customs back in the Halo 2 days could balance the gametype, I have no idea how 343i has still failed to balance Flood.
