Flood Infected Wildlife?

In the first teaser for Halo: Infinite we see various animals roaming the Halo ring. If we do encounter the Flood once again, what do you think of potentially fighting off Flood infected wildlife? No species is immune to the Flood as far as we know, so there is a possibility.

I’d love to see something like this. Interacting with the environment can add a level of complexity to the experience. More specifically, I think it would depend on which wildlife. Some of the smaller and more docile creatures might be better suited to simple biomass. But more carnivorous and deadly wildlife, as seen in Hunters in the Dark (Blind Wolves for example), could be very interesting to fight, Flood or otherwise.

The Ring Experience at HOD showed some of these Blind Wolves on Installation 07, so they could very well be in the game.

This is a very interesting thought and I hope we have at least some interaction with the wildlife unlike Halo 3 xD

I want to mow down infected Moas as they charge at me in a crazed frenzy.

I would like to see infected animals like the kind of infected birds and gorilas in the first halo wars

Actually wouldn’t mind that being real new twist

That would be interesting but note that some wildlife species are probably still going to be immune to Flood infection because there are certain species who are immune to Flood infection and therefore cannot be infected.

Is there a source for that? I was under the impression that everything we have seen so far was susceptible to Flood infection.

If wildlife has as big a part in the game as they’ve teased and the Flood are in the game, it would be odd to not see infected wildlife. It would also inspire new and interesting flood forms to combat. Imagine one of those Rino’s infected by the flood!

I def would like this. Imagine having to battle down one of those Space Rhio’s that was infected? Or imagine a WICKED fast flood infected Space Deer? Def would be cool

that would be awesome

Intresting idea, that would make it very scary.

If a guta from halo reach gets infected by the flood, it would be a hellish nightmare

That would be terrifying but I would absolutely love it though.

We haven’t even seen infected grunts in the main games

This is true but only because they don’t carry enough mass to be infected and are generally too weak. Though it could be argued that the Carrier forms are Grunts.

I would love this

Can you name a single species immune to the flood? I understand that there could be such large enough animals that maybe a single infection form couldn’t infect it, but if combat formats or juggernauts can kill larger creatures the infection forms can infect their corpse.

Nothing is safe from the flood.

Technically the Lekgolo are immune to classic infection methods, as they’re made up of lots of tiny worm-like creatures, whose sentience only displays when they amass and cooperate in larger structures. There’s no central nervous system for a carrier form to hack into when it gets their grubby tentacles on (for example) a hunter. If we are faced with creatures which work similarly on the ring, we will obviously not see infected forms of the larger whole due to their makeup.

But yes, single Lekgolo worms are still prone to infection in Flood-dominated atmospheres, and would probably be converted into simple Flood biomass as they don’t amount to much on their own. It only delays the inevitable.

This is a very interesting idea
And like other guy said I hope we do see blind wolves
That would be cool even if they weren’t infected
This concept is very interesting and I hope 343I has already put this into the game
