Flood in Infinite

What would you think when the Flood Returns in Halo Infinite? Would you like it vor not? Tell me your thoughts please.

I want it but I want it set up perfectly in the narrative. I want their comeback to be a big deal that sends all factions into a panic.

Personally i dont want it.

i don’t want the events of Halo 3 to be diminished. I’d honestly rather fight Cortana and her created.

The Flood was fun, but it’s had its time.

edit: but if they do come back, i hope it is explained well ajs explains why they have survived the events of Halo 3 and were able to be present in HW2.

But even Halo 3 established that they would be back. The idea that the Flood were defeated in Halo 3 is ridiculous to me.

Having the Flood in Infinite would feel kind of like a call-back, however, it’s kind of confusing to have the Flood reappear NOW, while Cortana and the Created are going about, trying to keep the Mantle of Responsibility in check, would be a mess for a story for 343 to deal with. We’ve been missing the Flood for two games, Halo 4 and 5. If the Flood were to come back, after Chief’s disappearance for four years on the Dawn, the Flood would’ve been crawling for ages at that point.

I hope 343 doesn’t ruin their design.

While I desperately want the Flood back, I actually agree with the argument that there’s too much going on now and they seem like an ‘endgame’ kind of thing.

The reason they brought it in back in halo wars 2 was pretty solid though. High Charity crashed in to the ark and natural defenses of the ark quarantined it. Then the overzealous brutes from awakening the nightmare break the quarantine.

Also in Zeta Halo there are also Flood Containment Facilities that could have been Damahed during the fight of the UNSC against the Banished. I kinda dont want This and kinda not. But i hope in the Multiplayer there is the Infektion mode where you play an Actual Combat Form and not as a Spartan Flood thing.

Quick update after reading the FAQ, which everyone should read themselves,

The timeframe for Halo Infinite is going to be in MC’s backstory, kinda . Considering that since the Flood was in Halo 1 and this is a prequel to everything else, I can find it believable that the Flood would appear in Infinite, however, I’d expect it to appear towards the mid-to-late parts of the game, simply because of the Human-Covenant war.

Also, what’s up with the Banished? If this is going to be in the Human-Covenant war, I’d think the Banished wouldn’t even exist, considering that the Brutes had appeared in Halo 2, far after the destruction of Installation 04 (I believe which was the Halo that CE was in), so the Banished becoming a threat here and not in Reach or something like that seems a bit messy for the story.

If anything, I’d think that some parts of the rebellion should be put into play, considering that’s what the Spartans were originially built/grown with.

That’s just what I think, though.

If they did come back I’d be down for it however they would need to make the Flood much more menacing as just returning to original trilogy will not be enough to satisfy the worth of having them around again and like i said early it would feel like tracing the original trilogy steps again.

Gameplay-wise I would love to see the Flood reinvented by 343i, with new combat forms and a new and spooky art design, I think that could be super fun. Story-wise I think Infinite is already a mess and they should definitely address the Created problem before introducing any new factions and/or galaxy endangering threats

I feel like we will defeat cortana and her created, then and only then will the galaxy be weak on all fronts for the flood to make there move

Calling it right now.

Halo Infinite campaign will end with the flood being released on the ring.

Flood will then be the next major campaign expansion in 2 years.

What? This doesn’t take place during the Human-Covenant war. It takes place after Infinity’s destruction in like 2560 or later. This is likely after Halo Wars 2 or during the same time.

I think what is likely to happen is that the ending of Halo Wars 2 will end up tying into Halo Infinite towards the end of the release campaign and then updates/expansions will occur with other Banished and UNSC being added. This will have John facing off against that brute in the trailer and then I’d bet that it’ll leave on a cliffhanger with Anders popping up and possibly Atriox.

As for the Flood, well, it’d only make sense I would think. The fans have been clamoring for it, it’s on a Halo installation and they were reintroduced in Halo Wars 2.

The flood need to return so it can be a real halo game .

They’re one of the things I want to return the most. I just hope they don’t ruin them if they do return.

I would probably be ok if it is there for a good story, but in gameplay I really don’t want them to comeback. They are attached to the worst levels of the franchise, because they are a pain to fight.

Ah. It appears I haven’t caught up with the Halo Wars timeline then, I haven’t played the games.

That does make sense, though. However, if it’s going into the backstory of Chief, then why is it taken after Infinity’s destruction? That doesn’t make too much sense to me, or I could just be totally dumb.

I assumed it’d be taking place during the Human-Covenant war considering that it’s going into Chief’s backstory, since it’s pretty much where he was first deployed. If this is after Halo Wars in 2560, with the destruction of the Infinity, the Flood reappearing then would be a total step back and would require a whole lot of explanation on 343’s part. Halo installations shouldn’t just be the “Domain for the Flood”, they’re habitable superweapons – not planets for the Gravemind (I think that’s what his name was, the big baddie that controlled the Flood,) to host.

(Anyway, how the hell did the Flood appear in Halo Wars 2? That’d probably help me understand what’s gonna happen with Flood in Infinite.)

I think that it would be awesome if the flood returns plus there will be amazing graphics it would be so cool
